„Altura Hotel is fantastically funky! The views of the Central Valley are lovely and the rooms are clean and modern. This place embraces the offbeat (the registration desk shares a room with a donkey in a stall!), so don't come if you want the boring cookie-cutter hotel room. The best way I can describe the buildings and grounds is that it's like a mad genius architect bought a farm in the Swiss Alps and then started building guest amenities with salvaged material. Breakfast is excellent. Make sure to request the garden hummingbird feeders are full so you can see White-throated Mountaingems, Green Violetears, Scintillant Hummingbirds, and, if you're lucky, Violet Sabrewing. All beautiful! Totally unique, so embrace the idiosyncrasy! Warning: the last short bit of road to Altura is pretty rough. Maybe could be done with a car, but best to have more ground clearance with an SUV/crossover.“
