  "I can only repeat every word of what Katiero wrote! I had dreamed of going to this hotel for almost 30 years, after seeing the film (4x so far) of Agatha Christie's "Death on the Nile". The real hotel far surpassed every one of my expectations -- A Dream Come True! I too was upgraded, at no extra cost, to a fantastic suite, overlooking the Nile. Above the Nile, in every direction from my balcony (which reminded me of a wealthy sheik's tent, so unusual), I could see the large temple excavations directly across the river, Aga Khan's splendid tomb, that looked like a sand-colored Taj Mahal up high in the sand dunes, and at night, the lit-up tombs of the nobles, while the prayers were sung from the nearby towers. Utter magic! I was given a tour through the splendid Winston Churchill suite and the Agatha Christie suite. I felt like a time traveller. After only seeing the Nile around Cairo, a filthy cesspool, I was so stunned at its wonderful blue color and clarity around Assuan, when I went sailing in a Feluca through the nearby islands and the First Cataract for 2 days.I could see the rocks clearly to the bottom, like the Canadian lakes of my childhood. With all the luxury of this hotel, meal prices were very reasonable, a nice surprise. Everyone in the hotel did everything they could to make my 10 days there so wonderful, esp. as I was on my own. As you may believe reading this,1 week later the magic has not worn off. In heart and spirit, I really am still there. So I MUST go back."

  "The owner called us a few days before we arrived to know what time we would be coming. Then again he called us while we were arriving. He told us to meet at the KFC restaurant and shortly he arrived with a boat! We went with the boat to the house, this was super easy, the house is located on the island at the river. We loved the place and had breakfast every morning on the roof. What a beautiful view. We did climb over the fence to access the rough part of the roof, with an even better view. We loved the place a lot, perfect location. 10 minutes walk from the house to the ferry, ferry costs 2 pounds. Your phone GPS is useful to find your way the first time. Once you cross the river, everything is close by... The market is almost across the street."
