  „We stayed in a cosy stone cottage with lovely views. Generous breakfast supplies of bacon, eggs, cheese, butter, jam, orange juice and milk were left in the fridge with bananas, oranges, cereals, tea and coffee also provided. Fresh bread and croissants were hung on our door knob every morning. It was great to get up and have a leisurely breakfast without any time restrictions. There was enough food for us to have breakfast, a picnic lunch and dinner with one or two items added from the very convenient honesty shop at reception.“

  „If you are looking for a cosy place with a magnificant view, character and atmosphere this is the place to be. We had the cottage that is a little uphill of the main area but this is only to identify the place. It was private and had a nice patio with chairs and tables. The house itself is really cute. We liked that you could feel that the owner did not long for perfection but for the mood. The house was filled with a selection of antique furniture that were far from mainstream including a gramophone with german schellac LPs. From the terrace or the pool on the main site we had a superb view down the hill and upon the sea with california style but european feeling sunsets. Yes there may be ants if you are careless about your food and yes there may be a dog that barks a little in the evening but hey, this is the country side of Madeira. However, if you are looking for 5* sterile perfection of a hotel: better do not bother to come here. Stay away.“

  „Gill (& Tom) are very kind hosts. This was the best location on the island out of the two others where I stayed in Madeira. I intended to walk/hike in the Madeirean nature. I am glad that I chose to stay at Gill's place. There are good walks that can be reached on foot from the house. Gill and Tom have themselves done some of these walks and shared relevant information about them. Ponta do Pargo is not as densely populated as Calheta or Ponta do Sol, hence more open landscape to enjoy the scenery and take in Madeira's coastal beauty. There is a nice cafe and a scenic point in walking distance from the house where I usually ended up after the hikes. I could not find a taxi on Christmas day to reach Gill's place, Gill & Tom were very kind to pick me up. Home baked pies by Gill on Christmas surely cheered me up. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything that I needed for cooking. The bed was very comfortable. I would stay here again.“
