It was possible to walk to Ivy Square from Kurashiki Station, however we took a taxi when we first arrived, which only cost ¥1000. The hotel was beautiful, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The hotel is situated in a very convenient area as it is very close to the main streets of the traditional Bikan area of Kurashiki with its many interesting shops selling all manner of items from locally produced tea to denim, also produced locally. We didn't opt for breakfast to be included in our booking but it was very easy to find cafes close by where we could get a coffee and something to eat.

Dormy Inn Kurashiki is a 6-minute walk from Kurashiki Train Station and a 40-minute drive from Okayama Airport. It features a restaurant, free wired internet and a public bath with hot spring water. The location was close enough to the JR station for connections to the Okayama station for the bullet train. It was also walking distance to the historical quarter and a lot of good restaurants around the area. The hot spring and other amenities were also perfect for relaxing at the end of the day filled with walking and exploring.

The free afternoon tea was great, we basically went there for it. It's close to the Kurashiki Bikan area, and we were able to walk around there at night.
