Pemba did her utmost to welcome us and make us feel at home. She cooked us a delicious, healthy gluten free porridge for breakfast and made us wonderful Indian food for supper, like prawn curry and butter chicken, as well as fresh local salmon. She gave us knowledgeable advise about the island, and a very special send-off the evening before we left. We felt very pampered! There are comfortable seating areas, inside and out, overlooking the bay. The hotel is not far from the pub, which has live local entertainment to join in on on Saturday night. A memorable experience.

This is probably in the top 3 hotels I've ever stayed in. Everything was perfect. The building itself, the view, the hospitality, the rooms, the beautiful flower garden along the porch, etc. I have only good things to say about this place and we will be returning sometime.

very cute house with everything you need! the space was very cosy and the view was incredible, short walk down to the main area and close to the grocery store and restaurants. it’s a little home away from home and the host communication was prompt and friendly :)

We loved Alert Bay Lodge. It's rather quirky and clearly a labour of love for the owners Nina and Scott. There is an amazing communal space where you will find some really interesting objects and First Nations art. As well as comfy sofas and a lovely fire, tea and coffee is available. It is a wonderful open area to spend the evenings. From here you can access a veranda with incredible views over the water. The location is amazing, we saw orca in the water right outside the lodge! Nina and Scott are very friendly and engaging hosts. There was some healthy competition going on between them with their breakfasts. We had an early excursion on our first morning so Scott made us breakfast rolls to go, which were great. On our second morning we had pancakes made by Scott which were very nice but on our third morning we had pancakes made by Nina which were sublime (sorry Scott) We loved our stay here and would definitely return.

Everything! Lisa is a great host - she gives you a card with her cell number when she welcomes you so you have the option to text her if you need anything. The cabin's bed and shower were luxurious; the kitchen was spotless, well laid out and well equipped; the space was perfectly designed for a couple with lovely little design touches. The bed is so comfortable we asked about the brand so we can look at purchasing one for home (Lisa answered promptly and said she gets that question from lots of guests). Some particular highlights are the covered deck with Adirondack-style chairs and glass panels to keep the view of the ocean; the BBQ; the tap water (cold and pure); the fridge with a separate compartment freezer; gas/propane burners in the kitchen; and the shelf system in the bedroom. Finally, the location is fantastic - you're close enough to town to make it a quick trip, but far enough away that you get serenaded by frogs if you're out in the evening (a rural treat).
