The house is amazing! We spent a week here in March 2024 as two families with kids. First of all, the house is very clean and freshly renovated. Every room has a bathroom, which you would not expect in a village house! It has a big dining room on the first floor and a lounge room on the upper floor, so there is space for kids and adults to spend some time separately, which we found very convenient. The location was chosen to visit San Sebastian, Bilbao, and local nature landmarks, and it fits great to make day trips from the 'base' and return home for dinner (the BBQ area is great too and very clean). Special thanks to Xavier, the host. Every place he advised us was wonderful, including the meat shop of his family in Leitza, a lovely village close to the house.

If you're looking for an authentic experience in the Basque country, i can't think of a better place than Jose-Luis' casa rural Arriaran in Leitza. The converted caserio (farm house) is large and comfortable with a fireplace in the common room and a full bathroom in each room. From there, you'll be a short drive to San Sebastian-Donosti or Pamplona-Iruña if you're looking for city tours, or mere minutes from trail heads for hiking or trail running. Kids will love the animals in the farm and grown ups will love the quiet rural setting. Go try the Gorritz cheese, a few minutes up the road!
