Mr. Mangala went out of his way to be a hospitable host. From the moment you arrive, he is concerned about every aspect of your stay. For about $3.50 USD per person, he will make you a dinner with at least 5 or 6 dishes to sample. He also had homemade applewood juice for our arrival, and then packed us a breakfast due to our early departure. While this is not a Marriott (maybe a Sri Lankan Motel 6), the owner could not have put more effort into caring about our stay.

Fantastic property, better than in photo's. Very clean, great location with great bakery downstairs and mini supermarket at the back. Not far from the central town. Booked the apartment for 3 days but ended up extending for 7. Very helpful host.

Either the hotel has meanwhile improved or others were just unlucky, but we didn’t experience any of the negative aspects mentioned in the comments. We had a brand new refurbished and very clean room with touch screens, air-con was working perfectly. The pool is very clean, we spent several hours in there. Breakfast buffet has a large choice (both western and Sri Lanka) with great quality. We also went for the diner buffet, wich also offered excellent food at a reasonable price (6000 rupies for two persons except drinks). The hotel lies in walking distance from the train station on a main road, but our room headed to the inner court with the swimming pool and we could not hear any traffic. I can’t say anything about the TV program as I’m not staying in hotels to watch TV.
