Upon our arrival the host was kind enough to give us a tour and tell us the history of the property. Although it has been completely renovated, many of the historical elements were retained resulting in a combination of modern and traditional. Both the exterior and interior are stunning. The entire property, including the pool, were beautifully maintained. All the areas, including our room, were spotless, the bed was very comfortable and our breakfast in the morning was delicious. After driving from Madrid and arriving around 3:30 we didn’t want the hassle of driving into town for dinner (town is typical rural Portugal) but every restaurant in the area delivers so we sat by the pool, had a beer or wine, jumped into the jacuzzi and waited for food. Bed very comfortable, shower great and lots of stars at night. There are not many rooms so we had the whole grounds to ourselves 😀 Plus the national park is in the vicinity for hiking the next day.
