She’s also the cook and we would slurp up everything she prepares. The calm and serene vibe this accommodation gives makes one wants to stay longer :) our first day we did a night walk of Simatai section Great Wall that included the cable car (expensive! But enjoyable)… second day we hiked up the wild Great Wall. I felt this pace was slow and lovely for my younger children.

Gubeikou Great Wall Chengtaoxiaozhu Boutique Homestay has mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking, situated in Miyun, 13 km from Great Wall of China - Simatai. The property features garden and inner courtyard views, and is 17 km from Great Wall of China - Jinshan Ridge. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a seasonal outdoor pool. I cannot recommend this property enough. The family who run the property were so helpful, kind and generous. They went out of their way to help us- booking transport and catering meals, making recommendations for our trip. To get here, we took the bus from Beijing to Gubeikou Water town and stayed 2 nights here, then took the train from Gubeikou back to Beijing. The couple cooked us vegetarian dinner, breakfast and made us packed lunches for our day hike along the wall. Delicious homemade Chinese food! The property is so conveniently located to access three parts of the Great Wall: Pandong is 5mins walk, Jinshaling is 20-30mins by car and Gubeikou water town is 15mins by car. The hosts helped us organise transport to the property and plan our visit to the wall. Translation was no problem- we used WeChat translate and Google translate to communicate. And we used AliPay to pay for everything while we were there. There was a fussball table, scooters and skateboard toys for our daughter to play on whilst we were at the property too.

Situated in the centre of Beijing, 北京重构空间酒店天安门王府井店 is a recently renovated accommodation, which features soundproof rooms. The property has inner courtyard views and is 1.5 km from Wangfujing Street and 3.2 km from Forbidden City. The accommodation provides a 24-hour front desk, full-day security and luggage storage for guests. Everything was great and we highly recommend this inn. The personnel goes out of their way to help you. When we arrived late at night and had a payment issue with our card, the girl at the reception insisted we go to our room and solve the issue in the morning, she was more concerned with us getting proper rest than with the payment. I thought that was very thoughtful and we did end up fixing the issue (which was our issue and had nothing to do with them). The room is spacious, clean, quite modern, has all the amenities you need and they provide cleaning every day. We needed some laundry done and they helped us with that too. The inn is in the cafe so that can be a little disconcerting when you get there, but go through the cafe and you will find a small reception. Their coffee is great though so that's a plus in the morning:-) The location is quite traditional, in a hutong in a well known district and you can find a multitude of restaurants and shops all around, we tried some and were not disappointed. You even have a convenience store just around the corner! There are 2 metro stations within walking distance so the location is perfect. Thanks to the hosts for the warm welcome and for making our stay in Beijing so comfortable!

The staff were super friendly … they are very helpful and made our stay so much better … we were given a nice tea gift bag when we left, amazing touch. View from the room was awesome and the corgis very cute.
