Attractively set in the Konpira Onsen district of Kotohira, Kotori Coworking & Hostel Kotohira is situated 32 km from Kitahamaebisu Shrine, 40 km from Liminal Air-core Takamatsu and 40 km from Sunport... Very cute and big hostel. The facilities were great and offered very cheap laundry (which is rare)! The beds were very comfortable and the space for each person was big! Very kind and friendly staff that helped to show us around. Shower area was also one of the best I’ve been to.

Very, very nice staff, on-site bar is super chill (shame that everyone else on site that day is Japanese - my Japanese isn't enough for a good conversation). I bloody loved this place! The 2000 yen dinners were fantastic and Ryu the Chef could cook anything gluten free, so for me it was a dream to be able to eat all Japanese styles and not be restricted to just sashimi or sushi, plus..... he played a mean guitar and ukulele and knew a whole bunch of songs. We had some great jam sessions and interactions with the other guests. I recommend taking the cooking lessons if you get a chance- I learned how to make Dashi and prepare Shabu Shabu. The breakfast was a full meal prepared by Ryu- not just the usual cheese, boiled egg and toast. As hostels go - this one is a cracker!

Miyama-tei is a quiet place surrounded by rice and vegetable fields. I enjoyed a restful stay in a comfortable bunk room. The facilities were very clean and the kitchen is well equipped. There are a few small cafes within walking distance. Check-in was self service and the instructions sent ahead of time were easy to follow.

The co-working, common space, dorm room and bathroom were all very elegantly decorated and sparkling clean. The nicest hostal I stayed at during my 3 weeks in Japan!
