I would absolutely stay here again, there were also bikes available to rent and books to read! Room was wonderful and the futons were very comfortable

Perfect, low price. It was in March so not many people, I got the room for myself. The nice owner let me put my bike in a storage room.

Beyond cleanliness and comfort matching or exceeding hotels: nice decorations, free amenities (coffee, snacks, etc), and the nicest people! I also choose to add surfing lessons and it was a blast that topped off the end of my trip perfectly. There are bikes available to take around town and to the beach as well. Could not recommend more for those who want to enjoy the beach, or to really to anyone in the area!

Located in Amami, 800 metres from Higashi Beach, みーまん奄美 provides accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking and a bar. The property itself was amazing! There is a lovely common space where you can cook and hang out! The beach right down the street is beautiful and empty and you can rent so many different water activities! Only thing: restaurants around the place are often closed or far away, you can take the bus there (which is going every half an hour until ~19:00) or make sure you have at least something you can eat ready at the hostel so in case you don't find something you are settled. There is a convenience store right next to the hostel.

Situated in Akune, 24 km from Sendai-kō, Shioya Hostel features accommodation with free bikes, free private parking and a shared lounge. The hosts were amazing. Kind and welcoming, with great recommendations and おいしいコーヒー. The room was large and the guesthouse has a nice vibe and was clean. The rental bikes were useful as many nice places are a bit far to walk. My stay was very relaxing and it was hard to leave again.

Taketa Ekimae Hostel cue has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and bar in Taketa. The property is situated 46 km from Crasus Dome Oita, 45 km from Oita Station and 48 km from Mount Aso. Gorgeous historic building with a modern Japanese style, our private room was absolutely perfect. It was spacious, large bed was so comfortable, quiet and such a lovely space to relax in. The common areas were lovely, clean and beautifully decorated. Great location in the town centre and so close to the train station and parking. The staff and owners are truly what makes this stay a 10/10! The warmest greetings, kind and friendly local tips and knowledge. Special thanks to staff for such a wonderful experience staying in Taketa. Special mention to Shun for his amazing hospitality and our new friend Takumi for sharing his cooking tips with us.

Aso Base Backpackers is located in Aso, 33 km from Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto and 42 km from Kumamoto Castle. The 2-star hostel has air-conditioned rooms with a shared bathroom and free WiFi. Great location, very clean, helpful owners, cozy atmosphere. If you are a couple, book in advance or you will end up in dorm. :)

Conveniently situated in the Yufuin Onsen district of Yufu, Yufuin Country Road Youth Hostel is located 49 km from Crasus Dome Oita, 2 km from Kinrinko Lake and 27 km from Beppu Station. This was the best hostel I have ever stayed in. Very clean and very safe. Everyone was super nice and I really enjoyed the stay. Also, they had a free morning shuttle down to the station so that was tremendously helpful :)

Set in Kikaijima, 1.9 km from Sugira Beach, yu-suhosuterukikai offers accommodation with free bikes, free private parking, a private beach area and a shared lounge. I really liked the couple that run the place. They keep it so clean and the community room is very user-friendly. It was comfortable as a solo female traveler. It’s a great location, easy to walk to the airport, grocery store, and restaurants. I would definitely stay again.
