I Fuji, 41 kilometer fra Shuzenji-tempelet, ligger Kinoya Hostel, som har en hage, privat parkering, en fellesstue og en terrasse. Staff was very kind and helpful. We arrived late and he prepared the bath for us. We didn't need to go to Ryokan to enjoy a Japanese inn and onsen. The place was clean and beautiful Japanese style house with tatami. The hostel was right next to the train station, that is a huge bonus for us when we overslept and almost kissed the train. We definitely will come again in the future.

Fujiyoshida Youth Hostel ligger i Fujiyoshida, bare 7,8 kilometer fra Kawaguchisjøen og 25 kilometer fra Fuji-fjellet. We booked this accommodation at the very last minute as it was the only option available in Fujiyoshida at the time. Because of that, we had no expectations, but staying in this guesthouse turned out to be one of the best experiences of our lives. On our way to the village, we read that the house has been preserved in a traditional style for over 90 years, which immediately impressed us. We were welcomed by the sweetest elderly lady, who speaks English in the most charming way and kindly showed us the entire house. Everything was incredibly clean and beautiful. Even though the facilities (bathroom, toilet, kitchen) are shared, they always looked as if they had just been cleaned right before we arrived. Sleeping on the floor was surprisingly the most comfortable sleep we’ve ever had - unbelievably cozy. The absolute highlight was the morning. We opened the window and were greeted by a perfect 10/10 view of Mount Fuji that day. We were left completely breathless. We truly wished we had stayed more than one night. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

So clean, warm to come back to after a Winter day around the lake and what a perfect perfect location for seeing Mt Fuji. It is directly opposite 1min walk away to cross the road and you are in Oishi Park. After walking around the lake and seeing the other hotel options I would say this was the best location! High scale hostel with great atmosphere, common areas are pleasant and inviting. We stayed in the family room with private balcony and the view of Mt. Fuji was stunning. Sitting at night having a drink with the mountain view is priceless. The family room is really spacious and spotless clean. The common kitchen is exceptionally equipped, and they offer free fresh brewed coffee every morning. A collection of updated travel books in the dining room are useful.
