Kapenke hotel is very well located, waling distance to many restaurants and stores downtown. The touristic locations are a bit far, which means you should book transportation/transfer with the tour you booked or rent a car/taxi. Staff was super friendly, we were able to leave our luggage in the front desk before check in and after check out. They also offer a bathroom while we don't have access to the room.
Wifi worked pretty well, we were able to watch movies on streamings and book all the tours we went on.
We packed snacks for the trails and, even though the rooms didn't have fridges, the staff offered us to leave our food in the bar fridge. They tagged everything so it didn't get mixed up with other peoples stuff, and were available 24/7 do we could pick stuff up at the front desk.

El Calafate is a small city in Argentinean Patagonia, situated in the foothills of the Andes and on the shores of Argentino Lake. Blending colourful wooden houses and Alpine-influenced architecture, it is the gateway to the Glaciers National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Booking.com offers a wide range of accommodation in El Calafate and surroundings, from 5-star hotels to cheap hostels.
The area was originally inhabited by the ‘Aonikenk’ people, while the modern settlement grew at the beginning of the 20th century as a refuge along the wool trade route, taking its name from the native blueberry bush known as ‘Calafate’. The town was founded by the Argentinean government in 1927 to promote the colonisation of the area, but its development started only after the creation of the National Park, in 1937.
The famous Perito Moreno Glacier is 80 km from the city. Mount Fitz Roy, the small town of El Chaltén, the romantic Onelli Bay, Lago del Desierto, and Roca Lake are some of the impressive landmarks that make up Argentina‘s 2nd-largest natural reservation. If you want to experience Patagonia’s languid vastness and tranquillity, try some of El Calafate’s rural accommodation or ‘estancias’.

The personnel at the hotel was tremendously helpful.
The personnel at the hotel was tremendously helpful. They helped me in a difficult situation where I had to buy airline tickets on an emergency basis. They helped organize an excursion, a trip to Perito Moreno and to organize transportation for my group of 13 to and from the airport.
My room was beautiful; in fact, all of our rooms were wonderful.
This is a quiet place.

The only thing to really do is visit the glacier.
The only thing to really do is visit the glacier. I thought we could do more to make an extra day worthwhile but the tours to visit the other parts of the park were super expensive. All tours in the area were way too pricey and you can’t really do anything else without a tour. The restaurants are good, but in general I think Chaltén has a lot more to do and see.

I am a tour guide and I come to calafate with groups, at the end of my work I have a day or two of rest for myself. it is a beautiful city. although it should improve its internet service (it is regular everywhere) and they have too many dogs loose in the streets although they are not aggressive.

El Calafate is the place to be for visiting the famous Perito Moreno Glacier. We did the Big Ice Adventure with Hiele Aventura and it was amazing. The town itself is fine but very touristy.
The waffle café elba'r and the Patagonia Brewery were the best places we went to eat and drink.
The Glaciarium was interesting, a very text-heavy museum, lots to read. We went to the Ice Bar there too, however I'd already been to the same concept in another city - if you've been to one, you've been to them all.

I did not like this hotel.
I did not like this hotel. It was miserable and did not live up to its advertising in booking at all. No good cuisine , no hot tub as advertised This is not a 5@4 star whitely and you are advertising it incorrectly
Somewhere in between a hotel and a hostel. Lots of services, including laundry (they do it for you), a tour company (Patagonia Backpackers), and packed lunch (for a cost). Nice building. Good sized bedrooms and comfortable bed. Very nice staff. Free luggage storage (not locked) and ample common space in the breakfast area for hanging out. Location was nice: on the Main Street of the city but a couple minutes’ walk from the main sites which let it be quieter. It’s also an easy walk to the bus station in El Calafate.
This property is walking distance to the main street in El Calafate where all the restaurants and shopping are. It was nice to have the room to spread out a bit after sharing hotel rooms for several days. We also enjoyed having the kitchen so we could fix our own christmas dinner and breakfasts. Rosa met us and showed us the apartment and gave us tips for where to eat out. She was very helpful and easy to reach. The apartment and building were very clean.
We booked a room with two sets of bunk beds and a private bathroom. Basic but served its purpose. Plugs and lights were available next to each bed. I liked that the toilet was in a separate area than the shower. Towels were provided. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, toast, cereal and alfajores. Plenty of tours available for booking from the hotel. Location is not super central, but within walking distance from the busy area.
Despite the fact that this is 2-star hotel the level of hospitality at its best! Don’t expect luxury rooms and high quality facilities, but this is the place where you arrive deadly tired and full of impressions from excursions, so you are going to ignore lack of luxury.
Dinner at the restaurant was very good👍
Franko, the administrator from reception is best of the best. Always ready to help and solve your dificulties.
the best i have stayed in Argentina.
clean, cosy, friendly staff and the Awesome owner Andy who provides the best advice any time any day! Thumbs up Andy to you and your team!!!
They organise trips, change money, rent bicycles and prepare the most thoughtful breakfast package one can think of...
Highly recommend this place and shall return with friends in the future;)
Muchas Gracias!
The host was very welcoming and shared lots of valuable information with us that made our visit to El Calafate a real joy and very memorable.
The hotel is very clean and has a great location by the lake on the outskirts of town, which makes it quiet and a good place to relax.
Simple lodging with comfortable beds and 2 pillow options. Lovely staff. Decent breakfast with more options available than is typical in Argentina.
Organised a Perito Moreno tour and airport transfer through the hotel, both were with the same driver and very good.
I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels and hotels in Argentina and the ease, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff really stood out. It seemed like they all really enjoy their jobs and went out of their way to book tours, taxis, lunch. It was great value for money.
Everyone comes to El Calafate should consider Hotel ACA. The location is great, one block to the center of the main street. The room was clean and warm. All staff were friendly and helpful. The price was fair enough. There was nothing I can complain about.
Hostel staff extremely nice and helpful.
Location is very central.
Beds and showers are quite clean.
I stayed there a night and left for El Chalten. When I returned to El Calafate, I directly walked to this hostel again for another stay.
The property was beautiful and well maintained! The rooms were spacious and clean and the beds were very comfortable. We were in Argentina for 2 months and Linda Vista had the best water pressure and hot water of anywhere we stayed.
beautiful view overlooking Lago Argentina. 2nd bedroom a plus for belongings. Grill and patio a great plus - we were able to have our first self-cooked meal in a month.
Mary, the owner, is incredibly responsive, warm and kind.
Staff is very friendly, Leonel and Rocio always do their best to help the guests. Room is spacious, and the looks and vibe of the hotel is really nice. Location is awesome, one block away from the restaurants and tour agencies.
It is very close to the bus station. Staff is very friendly. He gave us all the information we needed. He let us borrow the adapter for outlets. (This place only has Argentina outlets)
Eugene and his wife were the most gracious hosts, very helpful with the Argentinan money process so we were prepared when we arrived.
They also suggested tours!!
Not much. The only positive point is the location, near the city center (El Calafate), besides you need to cross a small pedestrian bridge to reach the hotel.
