We offer a traditional style B&B, set up in our own home, by dedicating the front section to Aashay Country Stay. The B&B Suite has a stylish and comfortable queen room with french doors looking out to a bushy garden. There is a ceiling fan, TV and you have your own private bathroom and entrance. Opposite is your own private living room, and if you are travelling with extra persons, the couch is actually a double sofa bed! Note however that you do share the bathroom with the extra persons in your group. There is an extra charge for additional guests. You have a fridge, kettle, microwave, toaster oven and coffee/tea making facilities, as well as crockery, cutlery etc. Continental breakfast ingredients will be placed in your fridge, but please advise us of any dietary requirements when booking. We're located on 2.5 acres 7 km out of Fish Creek, just a 20 minute drive to the entrance to Wilsons Promontory. It's a bush setting with lots of birds around. You most likely will be welcomed by our dogs Shadow and Daisy with lots of enthusiasm and hello's. We also have 11 chickens and a rooster Becka-Roo, and they have free range time in the afternoons and are very partial to a treat or two!
My husband and I moved here 12 years ago after 25 years running a B&B on Phillip Island. I fell in love with India, especially its textiles, when I first went there fourteen years ago, so I have set up my shop in a large corrugated iron shed on our property. I go to India once or twice a year to source clothing, bedding and textiles from small family run businesses. In my spare time I like to work in my garden, which seems to be growing! Eric does property maintenance in the district, and in his spare time continues to renovate our house and maintain our own property. He's the one responsible for putting my quirky ideas into practice! We both love to travel, and have been to some interesting places. Wherever we go we like to walk rather than catch taxis or public transport, since you see so much more, and join the locals at street food stalls for really tasty food.
The town of Fish Creek is just a 7 minute drive away, and here you'll find the iconic Fish Creek Hotel (with the Big Mullet on top of the roof!), as well as a number of cafes (Gibsons Cafe & Larder is our favourite!) and galleries. Waratah Hills Winery is just down the road, and Guerneys Cidery a short 15 minute drive. Most guests come however to visit Wilsons Promontory National Park. The entrance gate is a 20 minute drive (make sure you pick up a free map with information on walking tracks and wildlife to see) and another 25 minutes sees you at the main settlement Tidal River. When looking for dinner options there's Trulli's and the Meeniyan Hotel in Meeniyan (22 minute drive), Fish Creek Hotel, Foster Golf Club (15 minutes), Promontory Views Restaurant & Winery at the end of O'Gradys Ridge Road, Foster (25 minutes), or grab a pizza on the way back from The Prom at Wilsons Prom Cafe & Pizza in Yanakie.
