Imagine an island, not far from the mainland, with pristine beaches, sweeping farmland and trees as old as time. Now imagine a house, all windows and views, nestled on a hillside. Now picture a deck, and a chair. Intrigued? This is Ashendens at Penneshaw. Lazy mornings on the deck. Swimming in the summer sun. Watching storms roll over the ocean. Sharing local food and wine with family and friends. Family holidays that start a tradition; 'Remember when...' Falling asleep to the sound of the sea. Ashenden's at Penneshaw is the ideal beach-front getaway for your next family holiday or time away with friends. Set on the eastern side of Penneshaw township, Kangaroo Island, on a rocky shore, it is a short walk to a family-friendly beach. Local attractions such as wineries, farmers markets and wildlife parks are close by for those wishing to explore, or the expansive deck offers the perfect location for eating, reading, entertaining and relaxing. The ocean views are completely unrestricted - you can spot the ferry and watch for the pod of dolphins that frequently patrol the cove. You might even spot a friendly seal!
Ashendens at Penneshaw is situated on the eastern side of the small township which is about 1 km away. Our beach house has unrestricted views to a small rocky cove at the front from all rooms and the balcony. Cafe doors open out fully to the deck - the perfect place for breakfast, lunch and dinner and of course that glass of wine. We have no close neighbours. There is a walking trail nearby which takes you along the coast with incredible views to the mainland. There is also a wallaby walk alongside our property which follows a small creek up into the hills. The main beach at Penneshaw is a short 7 minute walk along the coast. This sandy beach is very safe for everyone. Our rocky cove is also safe although it does not have a sandy beach - great for fossicking for crabs, rocks, shells etc.
