The Retreat provides a secluded picturesque environment within walking distance to the Elliot River where you can catch barramundi, flathead, whiting, silver and red bream, and local mud crabs. You can enjoy a walk along the river bank where you will spot many bird varieties, kangaroos and wallabies and beautiful scenery. The Retreat is surrounded by fruit, native and forestry trees providing the perfect spot to enjoy outdoor games and dining. For those with a boat there is a nearby tidal boat landing which provides access to the beautiful bays of Cape Upstart National Park, coral reefs near Camp Island, ocean and estuary fishing, and creeks. The Retreat was the original farm house on Korringal Station (Aboriginal meaning is “home by the water”) a 500 acre coastal property that housed the Edwards family on and off until 2012. The Retreat, which is adjacent to the Elliot River, has been fully renovated with polished wood floors, new kitchen, bathroom and laundry.

My husband and I run a 500 acre cattle & mango property, and are the owners of two border collie dogs. The dogs help us to work our cattle and go with us everywhere, they especially like to swim in the river and go fishing in the boat.

Driving south along the Bruce Highway you will find the beautiful beaches, children’s water park and attractions of Bowen thirty five minutes away. Proserpine is an additional thirty five minutes south where you can enjoy coffee and cake at the Whitsunday Gold Coffee Plantation and take a crocodile tour up the Proserpine River. Airlie Beach is a half hour from Proserpine where you can do a day boat trip to one of the Whitsunday Islands and Whitehaven Beach. Driving north along the Bruce Highway will take you through the bountiful Burdekin area and over the "Silver Link" bridge. The Burdekin is well known for fishing including the prized Barramundi, small crops and cane sugar. On the one hour drive to Ayr you will see the turn off for the Mt Inkerman lookout. This lookout provides a spectacular perspective of the size of the district, its beauty, the cane fields and the accompanying views out to the Coral Sea. The Mt Inkerman Sugar Cane Mill is just south of Ayr. Ayr boasts a twin cinema and a live theater. If you enjoy Italian food a visit to my favorite Del Santo’s Continental Deli the "Finest Deli this side of Milan!!!” is a must.
