Quietness and the location is easy to get to anywhere. Supermarket is nearby, 10 mins drive away. Eateries are nearby too where the supermarket is located. The host, Joy, was so nice, friendly & helpful.

The location is good, not far from town. The view from the property was awesome and the house felt homely. We were greeted by the owner and she made us feel very welcomed. We would absolutely stay there again.

Our stay at the Stables was perfect- comfortable, quiet and best of all fenced which was ideal for our dog who accompanied us. Loads of interesting areas to walk and explore. Accommodation was lovely - small kitchenette with microwave, toaster,kettle, dishes for 2 and a BBQ. (BYO oil for cooking). Lovely shower with amazing water pressure and a spa. Complimentary soap, bath oil and shampoo. Breakfast was included in our package and it was a real highlight of our stay - served elegantly with very generous portions and choices - we felt very spoilt indeed! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hillside Country Retreat.

The cottage was very spacious and tastefully furnished. It was well equipped with kitchen appliances and very comfortable with air-conditioning in all rooms for the hot days we stayed. The grounds are delightful and the views from our private veranda were lovely. Joy, our host, was very friendly and attentive, welcoming us on arrival. Our puppy adored being off his lead and our young children enjoyed the grounds, particularly the little playground of swings. The location is excellent and close to town, yet you're in a serene, peaceful retreat.

We wouldn't normally stay at B&B because we are uncomfortable being in the same house as others, yet here the unit is not part of the house and the breakfast is in the gazebo room in the garden. So it was ideal. And the breakfast made a perfect start to the day. The weather was cold but the Morris unit we stayed in was cozy as could be with wood fire or reverse cycle heating. Enjoyed the old books on the bookshelf, and mid century magazines to look through. Very pleased to find somewhere in York to stay on such a peaceful property. And Joy the host couldn't have done more to ensure we had a delightful stay.

We were in a three-bedroom cottage so had lots of room. I loved the location. It is at the edge of town and was very quiet. It is only a short drive to downtown and restaurants. The shower was good with a steady temperature and decent pressure. The bed I slept in was just a tad firmer than I normally like, but I slept well. I think the average person would like it. The other beds seemed firmer (I sat on all three before choosing which bed to sleep in). The clothes washer in the cottage worked well. The owner was very nice.
