the apartment was very comfortable and cosy and very welcoming. The views are beautiful out over the water and the garden. Everything we needed was provided and arriving to freshly baked treats and new season apples was a lovely touch. The bed was very comfortable and we appreciated the electric blanket so we could pre warm the bed, these Tassie temperatures make that a necessity. The apartment felt like home with it’s comfortable furnishings and tasteful artwork.

The Anchorage Waterfront Retreat is located in the Huon Valley on the bank of the iconic Huon River. With no road or traffic between you and the river you have the most stunning panoramic Huon River views as well as the famous 'Sleeping Beauty' mountain in the distance. The Anchorage is available as 1 bedroom (2 guests) OR 2 bedrooms (for additional guests) and provides fully self-contained deluxe accommodation with everything you need. Bedroom 1 has a king bed, bedroom 2 has a king bed or can be split into 2 singles. You can take a dip in the solar heated pool in the warmer months and relax in the sauna. After your day out exploring the region take in the incredible panoramic views from the upstairs deck or by the pool. With the lawn reaching to the water's edge, you can wander down to our jetty, throw out a line and be enchanted by the surrounding views. You may spot dolphins and seals venturing to this area of the river and a mooring is available for your boat by prior arrangement. The riverfront location is both private and calming with panoramic views over the Huon River to the Wellington Range in the distance. The tranquillity of the Huon River can be enjoyed at any time of the year and the Anchorage offers a unique opportunity to stay in total comfort right on the river's edge surrounded by nature in the beautiful Huon Valley.
We purchased the Anchorage Waterfront Retreat in December 2022 and look forward to welcoming you to this magical and very special place in the Huon Valley region of Tasmania. We have owned and operated tourist accommodation and tour businesses for more than 20 years including on Kangaroo Island and the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia with the well known 'Seascape' brand and had the pleasure of hosing guests from all corners of the world.
The Huon Valley has a varied history, mining, forestry, orchards, and aquaculture have been developed and some have survived however the natural beauty of the area is the main attraction with Tahune Airwalk, Hastings Caves and thermal pool, Hartz Mountain walking trails and the road to the bottom of Australia at Cockle Creek, all of which offer interesting day trips. Cafes and restaurants offering fresh produce served to a gourmet standard, fine wineries with award winning cool climate Pinot, sail the Huon River, learn how rare Tasmanian timbers such as Huon Pine and King Billy Pine are turned into boats the the Wooden Boat Centre in Franklin and much more.
