The Farinha de Pau - Eco Project is a project being developed based on the permaculture philosophy, which aims at a sustainable and harmonious development with the environment. Our construction is based in earth and recycled materials, and we invite the people to know about our work and see the possibilities to make our world better.
We are a family, I'm Sergio Machado, Brazilian and I live in Cape Verde since 2006, Simone, daughter of earth, São Nicolau, and our two children, Leonel (10) and Naomi (4). We became permacultures and our desire is to show people that there can have sustainable development, without causing negative impacts on nature, but rather collaborate with her. Today, we are not only produce our house, but we are training people on how to do it in order to pass this message and to make our world better.
Praia Branca is a wonderful place, surrounded by mountains and sea. It's a perfect combination with nature, beautiful landscapes and activities. From Praia Branca you can start many hike tracks to the best spots of the island. Monte Gordo, Ribeira Brava, Ribeira dos Cadjaus, Ribeira Prata, Cant Fajã, etc. Near the house we have short hike tracks to the 7 lagoons - 20 min (natural pools), Carberinho - 25 min (1 of the 7 wonders of Cape Verde), Praia Branca peak - 55 min , with a wonderful view, and the 2 twin rocks of Praia Branca, with one fantastic view - 45 min .
