We got a free upgrade to a room with a balcony. The staff were great. We liked that the hotel has a long history, quite interesting.

Historic landmark in Cyprus and excellent starting point to explore the Troodos mountain range. Nice breakfast and rooms are quite nice with nice terrace overlooking a sea of trees. Highly recommended

Comfortable, reasonable location on edge of Platres. Interesting history, having been built in the 1930s. Great value buffet at weekends.

Located in the Troodos mountains just a little higher than the village of Platres. This is an area steeped in history. The buildings are interesting and distinctive. The forest park hotel was built in the early 1930’s ( there is background on the internet). Many famous people stayed at the hotel and it now has an aura of that bygone age of glamour. It’s built in a Bauhaus design and the pool was built in 1962 and is half Olympic size. Like something out of a David Hockney painting. The place is peaceful and restorative. It’s something different, so check out it’s for you. Daphne Du Maurier wrote Rebecca there and I love to write so it was inspirational to soak up the atmosphere. On a practical level the rooms are very comfortable and a good size. Some of the sitting areas are almost as they were in the 1930’s and you get a sense of time and place.

Hotel has interesting history, and plenty of character, but now has air of faded glory. Rooms however are modern - big, clean and very comfortable. It is right in the forest, so view from our balcony was literally tree-tops. Quiet and peaceful. Plenty of choice at breakfast.

That was so ur second visit and we really loved the tranquility of the place and tbe history.building and the surroundings need some more attention but we still enjoyed every moment. The owner of the hotel is a lovely gentleman too and we were happy and honoured we met him.will be definitely be back soon.

I gave it 10 as current rating is not fair. It is unique experience as hotel is blended in nature. It is indeed sad as it looks like it is forgotten. It requires total restauration.Rooms are dated, gym and indoor pool area are better closed. Outside pool was not working but with small effort it would be one of the best pools I have seen. Tennis area and old-timer car museum are not maintained at all. Also half of the staff is really polite but other half is totally not interested. Hotel have a really good location if you are into hiking or to visit mountain villages and wineries. Food in the restaurant is quite good and not expensive. Even though rooms are dated, everything was clean. If hotel stays in this condition I would still come back as it is special. Not sure how it was working in the past, but it seems like it was once a best hotel in Cyprus.

I should've reserved the 10 review for special experiences like this. It isn't only the facilities and services it offers, it's also the story behind it. I was also offered a room upgrade for free.

it was extremely interesting if that’s a word I can use. older soviet type building with ancient arcade games. I loved them. reminded me of my childhood. rooms were decent. bit creepy because very few people due to being off season but it made the stay more interesting for us. I don’t want to put people off from the property. I think people will like it if you go with a sense of adventure.

Pretty cool mountain lodge that apparently hosted royalties back in the day, has that cool old world grand hotel vibe. Everything you need is there, from multiple restaurants and bars to game rooms and swimming pools. Very lovely and welcoming staff.
