Had a lovely stay in Hanga Road hotel. Staff and communication were excellent, especially as we arrived quite late, the security guard checked us in and was very helpful. Had a sea view room which was great, if a little on the small size, but we managed ok and the location made up for it. Breakfast was great plus excellent WiFi made the stay very comfortable.

It is amazing beach and surf town on the Ecuador coast.
It is amazing beach and surf town on the Ecuador coast. Frankly I can’t get enough, with festive atmosphere, restaurants and artists, great sandy beaches with popular surf breaks. Trips and trails inland and spectacular wildlife from pelicans and many various birds to iguanas and a herd of cattle that wander through town and the beach. A colorful and unique experience for any adventurers.

Very pleasant small town with lots of good restaurants,...
Very pleasant small town with lots of good restaurants, places to stay and a vibrant nightlife, not to mention a lovely long beach with decent surf, so what's not to like?
Can be noisy on the main streets, but isn't that what many come for in the first place?
Prices are on the high side at restaurants but there are some excellent options. There is even a wine store with some decent options.

Montañita has two faces.
Montañita has two faces. First, it is a mecca for partying, where you can find just what you want. There is "Lost Beach Club", one of the top worldwide clubs for electronic music accordingly to the DJMAG. If you are not in the mood for electronic, you can go for regaeton in one of the clubs alongside the "Calle de los Cockteles" or Cocktail Street. Also, if you want to get crazy with an awesome party, visit "Caña Gril", must go.
Second, it is a paradise for surfers and solo travellers. If you match this description, so you must stay in "La punta de montañita", nice hostels full of chill people. Also, you can work remotely. Imagine just picking up your surf table after a long day working, and surf pretty nice waves while looking a beautiful sunset. That you will get in Montañita.

I love montanita because of the surf, fun waves.
I love montanita because of the surf, fun waves. You can take hour bus ride to puerto lopez and do day trips, diving, snorkeling, kayka, hiking, so much. There is a waterful close by (10 min by taxi) to hike about 2 miles each way. Montanita the actually city can be quite loud, lots of shops and places to eat.

Great small beach town.
Great small beach town. Pretty quiet on the weekdays but surges to fill blown liveliness on the weekends. I experienced a mix of both - relaxing and partying and it was perfect. The entire town can be experience in a few days, anything longer than the excitement starts to wear off. The beach offers surfing, snorkeling, and amazing sunsets. The town is small but has lots of shopping and food options. There are also several nearby beaches (1-2 hrs) which cost $20-25 to get to by taxi. Overall really enjoyed.
Small cute hotel located on the quieter side of the town, super close to the beach and town center still, the room is cute and spacious, definitely more on the boutique side, good wifi, big bed, own smart tv, private patio, private bathroom, the staffs are a local couple, they're very friendly and helpful even tho we communicate through google translate all the time! They also let me have my spanish class in the common area, and their cats are soooo cute and friendly I miss them already!
Casa Del Merman is about a 10 minute walk from the beach and from the main part of town. This is great if you're looking for a quieter experience (although some of the neighbors play loud music), away from the bustle and all-night partying in town. It can be a bit of walk if you're going back and forth a lot. There's a lovely pool area, with a heated pool. Lastly, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful - but knowing Spanish is key.
Kiwi Hostel has a terrace on the third floor overlooking Montañita and facing the ocean. It is the best to have dinner up there or even just a cup of coffee in the morning! Plus, you meet the most amazing people in this hostel, I’m leaving with more friends than I imagined... the common areas are always lively and animated by travelers’ stories. And the team organises events such as little parties, poker nights, and there is more to come!
This place was heaven! The staff are super friendly, the rooms are really clean and the beds were big and comfortable. The roof terrace was amazing to sit and work/chill (mostly chill) with amazing views of the ocean and sunset. Would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to meet nice people outside of a party hostel (party hostels are just down the road for you to hand out in so you get the best of both worlds)
Fantastic location - Peaceful and away from the busy and noisy centre of Montanita. Right beside the beach. Can still easily walk along the beach to access the nightlife.
Clean comfortable room with a mosquito net over the bed. Shared bathrooms were never busy and clean.
Welcoming, friendly staff.
Excellent WiFi and breakfast (changes every day!)
Offers great yoga, surf lessons and board rental!
Stylish rustic loft with a stunning ocean view. Every detail is thought through and the host is super helpful to make your stay comfortable. Cute cats are part of the experience. Very good wifi which is rare for Montanita. A farmer bringing fresh vegetables twice a week. Spacious. Quiet and good setup for remote workers. Loved my stay here and will definitely come again.
The location is ideal! If you are traveling alone and looking to meet people, this probably isn’t the best hostel for you, but for myself and my partner the calmer vibe was much appreciated. The staff worked to make sure we were happy no matter what! AC was amazing. Wi-Fi worked very well in the room and shared areas for when i worked. Recommend!
Having stayed in Montanita several times, this place was the best place I have stayed at. Tamarra, Jackson , and the crew were awesome. They treated us like family. I highly recommend staying here if you like to sleep at night.
The location is great, not too far not too close from all the pubs at Montañita, so it's perfect for go partying and at the same time perfect to get some decent rest. breakfasts as the other meals are very generous and tasty.
Rosa the owner is one of the nicest people I've ever met in 20 years of travelling. Her dogs Luna and oso would capture any heart. An amazing place and by far the best place I stayed in Ecuador.
Restaurant there excellent, definitely place to go even if you aren’t living there. Hospitality excellent and they were quite professional and prompt. Definitely raised the bar for montanita
The staff were friendly and allowed us to store our luggage when we checked in early, the hotel was situated a little bit away from the town so it was not as noisy as other places.
Nice staff, location and good breakfast. Probably the dirtiest room we’ve been in in 3 months in Ecuador, loud music playing until the early morning not exactly chill out!
The location is perfect. Is is on the beach and only a short walk from the town. In the night you don't hear the music and the party from montanita. So that's a big plus
I loved everything about hotel kundalini! It was beautiful, the breakfast was delicious, the staff is exceedingly helpful, the location was amazing! It is on the beach!
