Property information

“La Casa del Centro” is a property located in the colonial center of Quito and constitutes a heritage house that has rooms with private bathrooms, suites and fully furnished apartments. While its owners inhabited the property, this site witnessed pleasant moments that now constitute the memories of the families that sheltered those who were people of great confidence, respect and friendship with the family; always housing good people. Today, the current administration rescues the environment and facilities of the place, reconditioning the physical spaces to give it a tourist approach without losing the initial essence of feeling the experience of living in a traditional Quito neighborhood.

Neighbourhood information

"La Casa del Centro" is located in the El Tejar neighborhood on Mideros street between Imbabura and Chimborazo. The neighborhood of El Tejar is geographically located in the sector of the historic center, which has a significant concentration of employment opportunities, mostly in commerce, educational organizations and public institutions. It is estimated that 200,000 thousand people pass through the center every day, both to provide their services and to make arrangements in it. To describe the neighborhood of "El Tejar", the first thing that stands out is its particular appeal that was given because in this space the tile and brick factory that supplied the first architectural constructions of the Order of La Merced was installed, such as the maximum convent, the church, the tower and the walls, among others. "It tells the story that, before the city of Quito was founded, where the El Tejar neighborhood is located today, tiles and adobes were already manufactured, it was there that Juan de Ampudia, sent by Sebastián de Benalcazar, prepared the preconditions For the creation of Quito, it is said that: "Quito was not founded first by the foundations, but by the tiles."
