Cortijo Calma was originally part of a small farming hamlet and has been sympathetically converted into a calming and relaxing home, which consists of the main house, where we live, and a totally separate guest apartment which is within the same enclosed grounds as the main house but provides guests with privacy for their stay. The open plan apartment has its own private entrance and consists of a modern kitchen area, living room, dining room and bedroom. The bathroom/shower room is separate and features a large high power walk in shower. The apartment can accommodate up to 4 people with a king sized bed and a double sofa bed. The bedroom/lounge/dining area, along with the sofa bed, provides a small dining table with chairs, cupboard and drawers for storage, bedside tables, reading lights and hanging racks. This rural property sits amongst almond groves set in the beautiful countryside of the traditional village of Oria, which is approximately 9kms away. This location offers the opportunity to leave behind the stresses of everyday life and to totally unwind in the peace and tranquility of the Oria Countryside. With no light pollution it is the perfect setting for sitting outside in the evenings and watching the never ending view of the stars, including shooting stars and satellites. During the day, you can enjoy just watching nature whilst relaxing by the pool or sat on one of our patios / terraces . . . read a book, listen to music or just soak in the peace.

My husband, Keith, and I retired to Spain nearly 6 years ago and brought with us our 3 dogs - Bear, Lily and Honey. Over the last 3 years we have adopted 3 Spanish rescue dogs - Bonita, Muffin and Sidney. All 6 dogs are very friendly and love the company of people. Once we moved to Oria, we started to enjoy our new life straight away and decided to reform an outbuilding so that we could share what we have discovered with people from all walks of life. We will be available throughout your stay as much or as little as you need and will be contactable via mobile apps at all times. We are more than happy to help with any queries, or questions you may have before or during your stay with us, with our aim to ensure you relax and make the most of your precious time away.

Cortijo Calma is on the outskirts of Oria town which is built around the ruins of a Muslim citadel and not only offers an amazing location but also boasts a truly stunning Cathedral 'Basilica de Nuestra Senora de las Mercedes'. The Cathedral is Roman Catholic and is a must to visit with its richly decorated interior and impressive dome. There are a number of friendly bars/restaurants in Oria, a locally renowned butchers offering exceptional meats, cheeses, wines, local produce and fresh free range eggs from the local chicken farm. There a numerous convenience stores, two banks, a garden centre, a bakery and a post office. During the months of July & August the town offers an open air pool with bar and picnic area. Also during August, Oria Town Hall organise various free music events which are held in a number of areas throughout Oria. The music is very eclectic ranging from Spanish Flamenco, traditional music of Japan, Rock, Opera, Celtic, Theatrical and Spanish Guitar. Throughout the months of March & April, the air is filled with the scent of almond blossom and you will see rows & rows of almond blossom . . . a truly magnificent sight to behold. We offer the private use of an outside pool and hot tub during the hotter summer months with a variety of courtyards in which to sit, relax and enjoy the sun. If you want to get around the local area, or if you want to venture further, you will need a vehicle. We are about 10 minutes from the village centre and 35 minutes to the nearest main town by car. The fantastic beaches of Mojacar, Garrucha & Vera are only an hour's drive away along well maintained and quiet dual carriageways. There are some great ramblas (dry river beds) and hills to explore on our doorstep and further afield you can visit the spaghetti western town of Tabernas, which is also south eastern Spain's semi-arid desert where the scenery is amazing. There are many places to explore and ventures to be had but a vehicle is necessary.
