Our 360 M² courtyard is stone built, south facing suntrap totally secluded and secure away from prying eyes which is also totally floodlighted, you are welcome to use either of our BBQ's and an electrically operated sun blind / awning, attached to the courtyard is the Barn (37 M²) that contains many outdoor games and a table football. You also have at your disposal two rooms in the adjacent converted Gîte where you can relax / chill out. You will find board games and T.V with DVD player. There is also a small fridge and hot drink making facilities. We also have a secure garage (26 M²) that you can store / lock up bicycles, kayaks / canoes or fishing equipment e.t.c. You will also have access to an outside tap should you need to rinse any items on return from your day's adventures. Interaction with guests Your rooms are situated on the first floor, however we live on the ground floor and are at your disposal should any problems occur.
Anne-Marie is a native French speaker with 20 years’ experience working in a secondary school in the UK, teaching French and German. She holds degrees in English, German and French, along with a P.G.C.E (Post Graduate Certificate of Education) and is also qualified to teach English as a Foreign language (TEFL). Anne-Marie also has several years’ experience of working in primary schools and teaching adults in community centres at evening classes. Her established career as a teacher means she has a broad knowledge of British exam qualifications. Over the past ten years, Anne-Marie has also been an international schools co-ordinator, developing links with schools in Finland, Estonia, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, Cyprus, Sweden, Nepal and Jamaica. Chris is a native English speaker who has over 27 years’ experience working in the Outdoor education sector. During this time, Chris has worked in the public, private and voluntary sectors across all of the UK and many parts of Europe. Chris has a passion for outdoor pursuits and is an avid rock climber and canoeist.
Our B&B “Belle’s Retreat” is situated in Saint-Jean de Sauves, a quiet typical stone built French village in the Vienne (86), bordering departments - Indre et Loire (37), Main et Loire (49) and Deux - Sèvres. The climate is warm and sunny. The area has a lot to offer from Saumur in the north to Limoges in the south: nature reserves, forests, museums, castles, parks, theme attraction parks (we have Futuroscope 30 Kms and the world famous Puy-du-fou parc 95 Kms away amongst others) various Zoos and we are ideally suited for visiting the six historical cities of Vienne - Poitiers, Chauvigny, Loudun, Châtellerault, Civray and Montmorillon.
