The Old Curiosity Shop is a curiosity in itself. Although probably not the actual shop mentioned in Charles Dickens' novel (it was suspiciously renamed after the novel was written), Dickens, who lived in the nearby Bloomsbury area, was known to frequent the shop. Built in the 16th century, it miraculously survived the Great Fire of London, which burnt down most of London, including Shakespeare's Globe Theatre! Today it is used as a showcase for a bespoke shoe designer. Also, it looks rather funny amongst all the modern LSE buildings and gleaming apartment blocks! What do you think? Think dark corridors and an incredible amount of architecture squeezed into a tiny space.
