Laugharne is an interesting little place, and not too far from the many fine Pembrokeshire beaches all along the coast from Saundersfoot to Freshwater West.
If you stay in Carmarthen be sure to go to Llandeilo where you will find Gold Mines and National Trust’s Dinefwr Park and Castle is well worth a stop.

We saw the town on a Sunday. Vey quiet.
We saw the town on a Sunday. Vey quiet. However, there is more to the town than first glance (just), but too much retail - so much unoccupied. Given history, very little historic class on view. The hey day has gone, what now? Perfect accommodation, very close to town.

There are some really interesting shops and businesses in the town centre. Sadly, in common with many towns, there are too many empty/closed shops and rundown buildings. That said Carmarthen's location is ideal for visiting the NBGW

Carmarthen was a nice town to walk around for a day but I wouldn’t want to stay longer than a long weekend. The castle was locked with no reason or explanation when the internet states it’s open ? Many tourists were also under the same impression as us and miss informed by Google.
The Boars Head is a town centre Pub/Hotel/restaurant.
Welcoming staff, nice room. I would stay here again if I was in the area. Good breakfast with one exception, the sausages are awful. I know the hospitality business is under financial pressure, but cheap budget sausages aren’t going to help. Everything else about the Boars Head was great, the room, free parking, lovely staff and an excellent pint of cask Double Dragon.
We had a delightful stay at the beautiful countryside cottage in Carmarthenshire, Wales. The cottage exudes elegance and coziness, complemented by breathtaking surroundings with a charming river view. Anne, the host, is not only friendly but also incredibly supportive—a truly down-to-earth woman. The convenient location, just five minutes from Skanda Vale Temple, adds to the overall appeal of this wonderful retreat.
My friends and I really like the apartment, it’s clean, very spacious, and very comfortable. Away from noisy and busy city. We got everything that we needed, supermarket is just 12 mins away and there’s a pub in front of the apartment. We enjoyed our stay and great location to explore the south wales..Would love to stay in this place again, and I greatly recommend this place.
Very peaceful location, a perfect place to de-stress but not a difficult last little distance from the main fuel carriage way, a very convenient location for exploring south Wales and getting away from the hustle and bustle.
Also the Hot Tub was always fantastically warm and clean.
On the last evening we got a visit from a local hedgehog.
Really enjoyed my stay at the 'Pantyrathro Hilton'. The owner Ken was a really nice guy and very helpful. The hostel had a kitchen which was handy for cooking a meal in and a nice bar downstairs where you can relax with a pint and chat with Ken or the other guests. If I'm ever back in South Wales I'll be booking here again.
Really genuine and friendly- hard working people. Beautiful place to stay with good access to West and South Wales. There is nothing about the place or the owners to dislike. I travel for work and intend using this b&b regularly if possible. There is also the self catering option available in the same grounds.
There was a good, convenient place to store my bike. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. The dinner reasonable, but not much else available in town. The room was comfortable and good value for money. An average hotel, conveniently placed for the centre of town.
The hotel/pub is very basic , cheap furniture in the room , very small telly etc etc . It was clean and staff were good , the breakfast was very good . You pay for what you get ! £63 inc of breakfast is cheap in todays market especially in a town like Carmarthen .
The proximity to the town centre was fantastic, park was close by and the service at the hotel was outstanding even though they had a busy day and evening, they still managed to accommodate us for a meal (which was very nice and great value too).
Very friendly and helpful staff.
We booked a room for 6 but ended up receiving a room for 8
Due to a leakage from heavy rain.
We only came to stay for the night to go to Skandavel early morning Pooja, so couldn't say much else about the area .
Beautiful location, easy access by road, near the town & the beach.
Tidy, well furnished chalet with everything you need.
Plenty of things to do in the area (30min. drive radius).
Good communication with host.
Good value for money
The toll house looks small but is very spacious inside with all mod cons, and very comfortable definitely worth a stay, we loved this place ideal place to stay for access to all of west wales definitely be back soon
Absolutely everything , anybody thinking of taking a break with the clean fresh air in Wales just go ahead and book as soon as you can . The host couldn't make you more welcome
Ideal location in centre of town. Nicely decorated hotel with comfortable surroundings and room. Pleasant staff, cosy breakfast room with lovely breakfast with veggie options.
Breakfast included in price. Most hotels have stopped breakfast, and kept the price the same. And had VAT reduced during lockdown. The Drovers Arms is good value.
This location was beautiful the only thing I would say is make sure you drive because it is in the middle of nowhere and taxi one way to town cost £30 .
