Experience our charming and cosy Victorian stone cottage, nestled in the heart of Fortuneswell on the beautiful island of Portland and within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Our cottage spans three floors and offers stunning views over the rooftops to Lyme Bay and the Jurassic Coast from the converted loft bedroom. Close to local amenities and a short walk to Chesil Beach, it's ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, with nearby sailing, watersports, hiking, climbing and bird watching. As you enter the front hall, you will find a cosy sitting room equipped with an Amazon TV and a range of board games and puzzles. Continuing on the ground floor, you will find the dining room, which can seat up to six people. The well-equipped kitchen is accessible from the dining room and features a gas oven, grill, hob, fridge with an ice compartment, microwave, toaster, and kettle. Adjacent to the kitchen is a utility area with a washing machine, a WC, and a wash basin. The kitchen is well-equipped with a variety of utensils, crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, as well as mugs and glasses for those who wish to prepare their own meals. The dining room leads up to a charming enclosed courtyard garden at the rear, which includes a table and chairs for six people; there is also a small garden at the front of the property. Taking the original stairs to the first floor, you will find a large bathroom with a bathtub, a separate rain shower, and a heated towel rail. Also on this floor is the spacious front bedroom that offers partial sea views and a king-size bed. Additionally, there is a third bedroom on this level with twin beds and a hanging rail. Another flight of stairs takes you to the third-floor loft bedroom, which has a double bed. From the large window, you can enjoy expansive sea views, and this room also features a TV with an Amazon Fire Stick. Due to the location and age of the property, the stairs may not be suitable for young children or individuals with mobility issues.

After nearly 20 years in the education sector, I decided to embark on a new adventure. My husband, Dan, and I fell in love with Portland and the Jurassic Coast, where we discovered a charming Victorian cottage that needed some refurbishment. We carefully restored and renovated it, trying to keep as much of the original features as possible while incorporating modern amenities and adhering to all Building Regulations. Having stayed in various hotels and accommodations around the world, we decided to take the opportunity to become hosts ourselves. Our cottage is situated in the heart of Fortuneswell, conveniently close to various amenities such as the Co-Op supermarket, award-winning fish and chips, cafes, and pubs, including the popular Cove House Inn. You can easily reach all these places on foot. Additionally, the cottage is just 500 metres away from Chesil Beach and near the South West Coastal Path. We are only a 5-minute drive or a 15-minute walk from the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA), which hosted the 2012 London Olympics. If you plan to explore the beautiful town of Weymouth, it is just 5 miles away, easily accessible by local bus or by car. Please note that the roads in Fortuneswell are narrow. There are three free 72-hour car parks within a few minutes’ walk from the house, although they can get busy during peak times. Street parking is free.
