Room (I think it was 14?) was nice, although tv perhaps a bit small by modern standards. Good lighting for reading in bed - thankyou! Public rooms and front gardens very nice; the website showed more extensive grounds behind the hotel, but we had an evening commitment and a fairly early departure, so didn't get to look! Breakfast was fine and nicely served at table by friendly staff. Haddington is a nice small town with clearly a lot of history around the town and general region. I would like to come back to this area at some point, and this feels like a good base.

The staff were very polite, friendly and efficient. A good breakfast. Very comfortable bed. Good shower. Nice restaurant ambiance. Good wines but expensive.

Breakfast was awful. Everything was deep fried and disgusting. Small selection geared for playing golfers. Alternative vegetarian option but again all deep fried! Warning on menu too that no changes can be made. Weird! Restaurant manager was rude. Receptionist was fantastic. Room was good and spacious but a few broken items and curtains falling off.
The Tweeddale Arms is located in the charming village of Gifford, 40 minutes’ drive from Edinburgh. It is at the foot of the Lammremuir Hills and within easy reach of 17 golf courses.
Nice lunch in Diggorys. Good food in The Victoria, good service in both places. But £10 for a glass of wine in Victoria is too much. Its a small town not a city. Small town, not much to do. Half an hour is all you need. So don't expect too much,

Haddington too was a disappointment.
Haddington too was a disappointment. A walk round the high street took less than a couple of hours. There were very few places to eat and after eating in the hotel on our first night (very restricted menu) and travelled to Gifford for dinner on the second evening. There were a couple of brown tourist signs advertising restaurants which we never found, despite taking the car to see if they were further out of town.

Very attractive location by the river Tyne, friendly, small town with a few independent quality shops and some really good cafes e.g. The Loft, Falko. Easy to drive in and park right by the shops. Would recommend the fabulous 'Cheese lady" and "Malt Kiln" in particular. Will visit again!

Good staff. The location of the hotel is good.
Good staff. The location of the hotel is good.
I strongly believe in reviews because it makes business owners put things right. I observed my complaint the previous time I stayed there was looked into. This time, everything was good. My room Was very clean, warm and cozy. It is easy to get around Haddington.
Went with my daughter for a revisit to Haddington. Used to live there years ago. So we know the area and other pubs and restaurants really well. Didn’t eat here other than breakfast, but the breakfast was lovely. The room we had was lovely and comfortable. Big room. Lovely bathroom, lovely bedding and towels. Hotel was quiet being February, but the welcome was exemplary. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff there and we are going to come back again with friends for our next trip.
Lovely location, peaceful, rural views of the highland cattle. Comfy beds, mostly everything we needed in cabin. Designated parking space. Electronic gates for security. Fantastic to arrive to find tea, coffee, milk, crisps, biscuits and Scottish tablet in a tray of treats. Eco kitchen and bathroom stuff…loved the Faith in Nature shampoo, conditioner and shower gel and Method washing up liquid ! Just off A1 so convenient, with shops etc easily accessible in Haddington.
We absolutely loved the cottage!
Quiet and beautiful location (incredible stars at night and pheasants wandering around).
Very comfortable and very well equipped with lovely thoughtful touches.
Felt like a home from home.
Beds were excellent.
Short drive to the very charming village of Gifford and not much further to Haddington which is also really nice and has everything you need.
Great base for exploring East Lothian/The Borders/Edinburgh.
This cottage was wonderful. We would take a short walk to town in the morning to grab a coffee and then take it back
to the painters cottage sun room. It was a lovely way to start our mornings. There are restaurants and pubs within walking distance, as well as cute shops and easy markets. We were able to park our car in the lot which was nice. The cottage had everything we needed.
The cottage was well equipped and handily located in the middle of Haddington. There was a great selection of drinks in the fridge including a bottle of prosecco and a note wishing us well for the wedding we were due to attend that week. Linda was very quick to answer my questions and very helpful.
Food was good , though choice was somewhat limited . Haddington is a good location for exploring East Lothian and relatively close to Edinburgh , so catching the bus is feasible as it takes about an hour on weekdays . The bedroom was large and the bed very comfortable .
The kitchen and other common parts of the building are in good shape. Check in is easy, wifi works well, host communication was good, Haddington is a lovely town and there is a choice of nearby breakfast options
I had a single room which had decent space with a generous sized single bed and very clean.
Hotel location was just a 35 min very easy drive to Edinburgh.
Breakfast was good and the breakfast staff very helpful.
Loved being out in the countryside. Great to see the highland coos. Haddington was a very nice town. Appreciated the little extras the owner left for us, like milk and coffee/tea, chips and sweets.
We were in Haddington for a family funeral so just needed somewhere to sleep, most of our food was taken with other family members. We appreciated the extras left in the fridge - very thoughtful.
The breakfast was good, the room was clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. There are a few pubs and restaurants within walking distance from the hotel which is good.
Location was perfect for the great golf courses around and very close to Haddington town centre.
The bed in the Loch Lomond lodge was extremely comfortable.
Good cooked breakfast. Friendly staff, comfy bed. Perfect location for the golf at Muirfield and for the Edinburgh Festival. Clean, tidy and friendly staff.
