The Denes, an attractive Edwardian Guest House in Lynton, a mere stone’s throw from the entrance to the Valley of Rocks. We offer immediate access to picturesque walks and cycling routes in Exmoor National Park, as well as a comfortable place of refuge at the end of a full day. At The Denes, we offer traditional, high-quality food, locally sourced where possible. All bedrooms are en-suite and free wi-fi and parking are available. We have facilities to store and dry boots and waterproof clothing. In our spacious dining room, you will find a selection of information leaflets about local attractions and Ordnance Survey maps, which may be borrowed. Books and board games are available for a relaxing evening in. You can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome, whether you are visiting us for the first time or are a returning guest. Chris and Lesley
Chris and Lesley retired from their careers in Education to take on the Denes, a popular, well-situated guesthouse. Chris is a former Biology teacher whose passion for the sea drew him to this coastal retreat. "I strive to deliver good-quality, home-cooked food and believe wholeheartedly in the use of locally-sourced products where ever possible. The Denes provides me with an opportunity to meet interesting people and to share experiences in a relaxing and calm environment." Lesley, is the creative brain behind the decor at The Denes. Her passion for crafts is present in the evolving decor. "I love the organic lines of artwork from the Art Nouveau Period. The Macintosh Rose is a particular favourite, which you will see in the wall hangings and cross-stitch on some of the walls. Fortuitously, my fascination with all things Art Nouveau ties in with the Edwardian Period when the Denes was constructed." Please be aware that The Denes is also home to Uggie, a cat who adopted us when she was abandoned by her owners. Uggie is not allowed in the guest bedrooms or in the dining room.
The Denes Guest House is located at the edge of Lynton near to the Valley of Rocks. Lynton is within Exmoor National Park, which is described as the smallest but most tranquil and beautiful of them all. Exmoor has become the walking capital of England and offers a variety of scenic walks from a leisurely stroll to strenuous treks across the open moors. Nearby Lynmouth has a small picturesque harbour and riverside walks and the Exmoor visitor centre.
