The landmark building of the City Hall, built in 1890, is only 300 meters west. At 500 meters east, the magnificent peninsula of Panagia begins, full of small cafes, traditional taverns, souvenir shops, local stores and the home and statue of Mehmet Ali. If, again, head south, the sea is just 150 meters away! There, you can stroll in the small port, or catch a ferry to Thassos, Lemnos, Mytilene.
