With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.
Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it offers the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.
Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try this than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.
To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur, while based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.
With an impressive range of Budapest hotels, apartments and hostels on offer in this city of 2 halves, Booking.com makes your choice completely easy.
Amazing city, easily accessible by foot. Recommend trainers or walking shoes at all times. The city trams were easy to use. The city is clean and the sights are all beautiful.
Eateries in the tourist areas are expensive but we didn’t have a bad meal there and you’re on your holidays!!!
Essentials for the first day/second - bike tour and river cruise you get to see all the sights with information and les damage to the feet!

Beautiful place with lovely people.
Beautiful place with lovely people. In our short visit we did both the river and bus sightseeing tours. Both excellent and well worth doing.
I wish I had understood the money better and not to get a taxi unless clear on instructions.

Budapest is a city that has it all: beautiful architecture and a rich history, amazing food, museums where you can spent days without getting bored and of course, the Danube. The cruise that we took on the Danube was one of the most magical nights that I had experience and I would totally recommend it to anyone who visits the city (take the one that has the dinner and live music included).
The city is vibrant and alive and you find interesting things at all corners. Keep an eye opened for the antique shops where you can find amazing things. We were lucky enough to return with a bunch of little treasures from our stay.
Wherever you are from, please do yourself a favor an visit Budapest. It is one of the great capitals of the world and you shouldn't miss it. At least once in your life you should enjoy the unique blend of Eastern and Western Europe that meet in this great city.

Nice city but you need to avoid the peaking hours in touristic places since you will be surrounded by big guided groups all the time (especially around the castle) and you will not be able to see anything. Pay attention to the conversion rates since people will always try to make you pay the most. Food in supermarkets is really cheap but very expensive in restaurants in the centre, even outside of the most touristic places. Everybody is smoking. If you are very sensitive to smoke, you will not be able to enjoy a drink on a terrace. You have really nice parks a bit outside of the centre (with the balloon).

Lovely place to visit with excellent tourist spots.
Lovely place to visit with excellent tourist spots. Key places to visit. Buda castle, Gellert Hill, Parliament building, Chain bridge, New York Cafe (expect to queue for at least 20min but worth the wait), St Stephens Basilica, Matthais church and Fishermans Bastion, and baths.
Only thing to watch out for is the tram and metro. Best to use Budapest Go app to buy tickets if you want to use Trams or metro. But make sure you validate your ticket before you start your journey. For the Metro you have to validate it on a yellow machine as you go towards the metro underground. Make sure you to before you travel. For trams you have to scan using the App before you enter the tram. They have lots of ticket inspectors who are probably paid commission to catch people who dont know how their system works. And they will charge you anything upward of 30 Euros each. If they try to do this just tell them you are not paying and walk off especially if you bought a ticket but just didnt validate it. They have no powers and cannot stop you doing this although they will threaten you with calling police, etc. Its not true so do not pay. But please make sure you always buy a ticket and best to use the Budapest Go app. To be honest its not a big place so you can walk everywhere unless you dont like walking.

Situated close to Budapest railway station, a walking distance from the city centre and the promenade a long the Danube river. A hotel with a decent quiet rooms with air conditioning and helpful staff. Ideal for both solo or group travelers, add the breakfast packages for good start to your day.
super location, tram, bus to airport & city Centre, and to almost all the places of Budapest, was just down the building. Hotel was perfect with spacious rooms, good green view, comfortable beds and nice coffee selection. great restaurant down the Hotel
This small and cosy little hotel is perfectly located in Budapest city centre. Room was equipped very well, including an espresso machine and a washing machine. Although the price for my stay was very low, it even included a nice breakfast.
