With its open plan concept living/dining area & large french windows it has a spacious and bright feel while retaining the charm of traditional stone cottage with its sash windows and stable door & solid stone walls. There are 2 bedrooms (1 king & 1 twin) with orthopaedic mattresses, superior bedding and dual control electric blankets. The wetroom style bathroom has walk in electric shower and vanity unit. The sitting room has a large shaped L sofa with wood burning stove and flat screen cable tv. The dining area seats 4 comfortably on the old church pew and 6ft table. The kitchen with island unit and black granite counter tops is equipped with all modern appliances. The cottage is situated on an acre of land surrounded by blackberry bushes and views over West Limerick countryside. To the rear there is a patio area where you can relax in the peace and quiet. There is ample secure parking. Note: Wheelchair accessible throughout. Max 4 person occupancy 1 exterior security camera is in place to monitor the public road into the cottage only. The recording does not infringe upon the guests' expectations of privacy.
Ash Cottage dates back to 1914. I have completely restored it using materials sourced from old buildings & historical sites from all over Ireland to retain its character. Limestone sourced from a local quarry & Knocklong Creamery, cills from Killarney Railway Station, sleepers from the old Galway railway line & Military House Curragh, flooring from Donnybrook Hospital, church pew & notice board from Dunamaise Church and 150 year old Killaloe & Balmoral slates are just a few items used. It is a charming cottage that has a rustic/modern decor and I hope you find the comfort and restfulness during your holiday.
The Cottage is situated 3 mins from the historical village of Ardagh, West Limerick. Ardagh celebrates 150years since finding The Ardagh chalice. With A Holy Well, ringforts, to the buriel ground of one of Ireland's historical figures William Smith O'Brien it is steeped in history and the perfect base for exploring the West of Ireland. There are plenty of activities for all ages in the surrounding areas. Newcastle West town is 6km away and bus routes to Limerick City are regular. However a car is advisable to be able to visit the many attractions and sites in Tralee/Listowel/Ballybunion/Killarney& by ferry to Co. Clare. Transport with a driver can be organised at an extra cost.
