I was born and raised in Dalvík, the closest village to Húsabakki, until I was 10 years old. Since then, I have lived in serveral places in Iceland and abroad. Last six years I lived and managed my own guesthouse in Bíldudalur, in the of the magnificent Westfjords of Iceland. Two years ago I lost my love and partner and now for some coincidence I´m back home - welcoming guests to Húsabakki!

Husabakki has just few years back been converted from being a boarding school to a guesthouse. It has still many of the charming reminders of the good old days, and it is a quiet and a cosy place.

Húsabakki is located at the middle of Eyjafjördur bay with Troll peninsula towering over in the back. During summer Troll peninsula offers a variety of hiking trails and during winter is a popular area for Mountain Skiing. There is only a short distance to the ferry harbor where one can take a ferry to Grimsey Island and cross the Arctic Circle, Hrisey Island is also easily accessible by a ferry with many interesting things to see. Whale watching is one of the most popular attractions in the area as well as horseback riding is available in the neighborhood.
