We loved the bar area with the fire. A beautiful setting
Great for skiing. so many slopes/km of trails. Local people are friendly. village/town is nice and great food / restaurants.
It's a shame that for 50 Euro/day the ski resort has no gondolas or faster lifts.
Otherwise we love coming here!

A lovely little town with many great bars, restaurants and of course great skiing! The Old Town is all picturesque cobble streets and cosy venues and the apres ski is also good. Access via skis to nearby Sestriere is also possible, which opens up another large ski area for those wanting more pistes to play on.

Sauze d'Oulx is a very quaint town with a lot of history.
Sauze d'Oulx is a very quaint town with a lot of history. If you want a cosy, picturesque stay in the mountains better to stay in Sauze than Sestriere if you're looking to ski at the Via Lattea resort. There are many good restaurants such as La Griglia and many bars, including sports bars. A lovely deli (Gastronomia) which I picked up many treats from and a pasticceria (Pasticceria Valsesia) where I bought loads of lovely Italian biscuits to take home with me.

It’s a nice ski resort; a small village with quite a few bar and restaurant options. The Vecchia Trattoria is a great choice for an evening meal - good food (large portions) and excellent service. Plenty of skiing variety on the mountain.
Serendipity is a charming medium-sized ski hotel - warm, welcoming and very comfortable. We loved the staff, general atmosphere, and location. Room was solid, very comfortable (temperature and bed) and downstairs bar area pretty nice and “buzzy”. Ski room also useful downstairs, and the shuttle up to Clottes / Sportinia lifts much appreciated each morning (and very quick/easy).
Recommend for couples, families or groups of up to 6 visiting Sauze for a long weekend or more.
This seems to be a family run hotel with very friendly staff and excellent service. The rooms are cleaned on daily basis and new towels provided.
Although there is twenty minutes walk to the village, the freequent bus service provided is excellent. It is practically "taxi on call". Call them any time and from anywhere and they will come and collect you.
No fried breakfast, but continental breakfast provided with plenty of choices.
Excellent hotel with clean, large and quiet rooms. Great bed and very good breakfast of very high quality and multiple selections. These people take their job very seriously and do the best they can to please you in any way they can. Great stop on our way to Annecy for a road trip to Italy, France, Switzerland and Germany
The hotel is modern and clean, and the location is very good. The Clotes chair lift is only a 5-7 minute walk away, which is convenient. The decor is modern and not your typical kitsch mountain cabin style (which is a nice change). The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was lovely, but the best part was the hospitality of the hostess. She knew everything and everyone in the area, and was super helpful about where to rent skis, arrange ski lessons, etc. Having an apres-ski drink at the hotel bar was the best way to end the day.
Apartment seemed brand new, with everything spotless and new equipment. Having a dishwasher was a plus. Great shower/bathroom. Also it was nice to have a mountain view and a balcony. Helpful staff who are based at nearby Du Parc hotel, about 60 yards away.
Great buffet breakfast with a massive range of food & lovely view. Love the bar area! Staff helpful. Good to buy lift pass at hotel with discount. Ski locker room very convenient & warm. Easy shuttle bus to slopes.
Breakfast provided by other local hotel and was pretty low quality (however actually very cheap 8 Euros), however the quality is not the fault of Hotel Avalanche. I would recommend just buying something in town.
The hospitality was exceptional. Fabio and Danielle were so welcoming and friendly. Accommodation was second to none. Food fabulous. Hotel and rooms spotless. Will definitely stay here again!
The location is beautiful and, with some minor but significant nuisance to be sorted out, would deserve a 5 star rating. We could dine at the hotel only once but the cuisine is really great!
Gran Trun is a gem in this vintage ski town. Sarah was incredibly helpful in directing us and extremely friendly when we met in the bar / dining area of the hotel each morning and evening.
The hotel deserves a much better rating if the communication got improved.
I got a very hard time getting an invoice. I finally got a totally unproper invoice with no ID from the hotel.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and recently renovated. The restaurant was excellent. The owner ran an on demand shuttle to the ski lift.
Friendly efficient staff, who resolved any questions we had quickly. Excellent housekeeping. Nice main hotel where we had breakfast & used the bar for Apres .
