Cozy, bright, quirky and unique 17th Century Biennale apartment with independent entrance in Castello, a residential district of Venice historic centre. Close to the Venice Biennale of Arts, Architecture and Film, to the Giardini, a short walk to the Arsenale and Saint Mark's, it is the ideal place for long-stay or short stay families, visitors, researchers, and remote workers. Scala Mata it has very 'homely' feel. There are some limitations: anybody that faces real difficulty with stairs or has other mobility issues would be better looking at our other property Casa Alma, which has better access and all the facilities on the ground floor. Please be aware that the top bedroom has LOW ceiling. Scala Mata has no outside terrace, but with the green area of the Giardini ( and the playground!) so close, there are lots of beautiful places to sit and while away a couple of hours nearby. We wish you a happy and relaxed stay at Casa Alma and Scala Mata. I teach Italian, Spanish and English and I'm a translator. My husband Alan is a visual artist, arts manager and a Brit! We met in Kerala, India and we've travelled a lot for work; living in Amsterdam, Cairo, Cardiff and a heap of other places. Now we live and work in Venice, the city we love. We have two kids, Alvise and Molly and a sprawling, multi-lingual, extended family living near Venice, so if we can't meet you personally, we'll try to make sure one of the tribe will! Our motto?
