The location was excellent. You can literally ski to the door and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, although no one speaks English which made it a little bit challenging. While this is an old property it is incredibly well-maintained and has its own ski rental facility which I suggest strongly people use as it’s much cheaper than most others I found and the equipment is excellent. The restaurant serves traditional Japanese food which is plentiful and tasty . I would gladly stay here again.

Situated right in front of Ishiuchi Maruyama Ski Resort, Hotel New Fukudaya offers ski-to-door access and Japanese-style and Western rooms. Ski and snowboard gear rentals are offered on site. Ishiuchi Station is a 7-minute walk, and Echigo-Yuzawa Station is a 20-minute bus ride. Carpeted rooms have beds and a private bathroom, while Japanese-style rooms come with a tatami (woven-mat) floor, traditional futon bedding, a washstand and a personal safe. All rooms are equipped with heating and a TV. The dining room provides sweeping views of the ski slopes. Hotel New Fukudaya provides luggage service, and it sells discounted ski passes at the reception.
