La Maison Soleil is an accommodation in a villa, with 2 comfortable apartments and one room with private bathroom, in the garden there is a shared swimming pool and a pool house equipped with sun loungers where you can relax during the day. The rental property is situated in a big garden, in a quiet position, a few minutes walk from the village center of Trou d'eau Douce. The well-known Ile aux Cerfs, with its breathtaking beaches and splendid lagoon waters, is just a short boat ride on the facing bay. La Maison Soleil is an ideal base for visiting the fabulous east coast beaches and as a starting point for the exploration of the whole Island. The respect of the environment is our priority. For this reason we have installed a solar water heater to make hot water, we separate all the solid waste, we make the compost and use it to grow our fruit trees. The rain water is collected to water the big garden.
I am Italian but I have been living in Trou d'eau Douce since 2007, a tiny village overlooking a beautiful bay lying in the turquoise lagoon of the east coast of Mauritius. After seven years working in the tourism industry, the idea of a guesthouse popped up in my mind, with the aim to better care of my guests and to provide them with a good service in a familiar and comfortable environment. I am delighted to share with my guests my experience and the knowledge of the island and recommend the activities most suitable to their taste. I do realize I am living in a beautiful place surrounded by a flourishing nature and I do my best to preserve this precious environment through little good habits, such as recycling and composting, organic growing of our fruit trees and generating hot water by solar panels. I am fond of animals and in particular I love dogs: four of them are living in a separate part of my garden, they are very friendly and they get crazy for plays, caresses and...food! I like travelling and meeting people of all nationalities. This is why I love hosting people coming from everywhere. I will be very happy to welcome you to la Maison Soleil!
Trou d'eau Douce is a picturesque village situated on the east coast of Mauritius, with its bay overlooking the crystal waters of the longest lagoon of the island and its stunning white sand beaches. In the recent years it faced a good touristic development, although without losing the magical laid-back atmosphere of the fishing village it was at the real beginning. It's the perfect place for those who seek a peaceful and quiet escape from the rush of every day life. The village hosts the following facilities: different kind of restaurants, stores, supermarkets, cash dispenser, exchange office and post office, souvenir shops. In the area you can practice the following activities: snorkeling, diving, deep sea fishing, parasailing, kitesurf, horse riding on the beach and golf. Nearby you can find Victoria 1840, an Old Sugar Mill classified as part of the Mauritian heritage. It houses the Maniglier Foundation with the workshop and the gastronomic restaurant Le Café des Arts. We support the local community and we invite our guests to experience the local food in the restaurants of the village or to have a dinner with a Mauritian family as well to buy products made by local artisans.
