ROMANTIC LUXURY - Perfect Atmosphere - Yours to Enjoy! Views of Mt Somers that will blow your mind, this cottage generates a comfortable atmosphere of its own unique accord. A double-sided fire between the lounge area and the bedroom along with a modern but yet warm wooden ambiance, this cottage creates the perfect romantic spark. Soak in the double outdoor baths and explore the brightest stars that make up New Zealand's first starlight reserve. Guests also enjoy the movie theatre. Bring your own DVD of choice and try the 'Woolshed Theatre' which is only 50 metres from the cottage. This unique and complimentary experience will be a highlight of your stay - Just enter your name on the clipboard for a time slot upon arrival, then grab a wine and a blanket and settle into a variety of couches while your movie is projected onto a big screen with surround sound. All this within an original Woolshed setting of native Rimu timber and English corrugated iron. After the movie head back to the cottage to watch the fire or sit on the deck and be amazed by the southern sky stars. Feel free to dine in or we will assist with recommending the restaurant options in nearby.
We love to meet and greet you upon arrival where possible, or we provide simple instructions for arrival. We are available during your stay, but also respect peoples privacy so you can enjoy the environment and atmosphere. Our main home is situated 30m from the cottage, sheltered by a large garden. Staveley is located on the South Island's Inland scenic route and is a small settlement that once was home of a Sawmill and Diary factory. Now its a fantastic rural community held together by one of the best Cafes in New Zealand and the great people that live nearby. While at Red Cottage Staveley your able to enjoy the privacy of your own garden, covered deck, BBQ area and private outdoor baths, all with great views of Mt Somers, Mt Winterslow and Mount Hutt. Only 20m from the cottage is the old woolshed, complete with the complimentary movie theatre adorned with couches and blankets. People love this space. You are free to explore our farm space, often getting close to our sheep and lambs or chickens. Grazing calves and cows often frequent our main paddocks. Red Cottages Staveley is 1km from the renown Staveley Store, gateway to the Sharplin Falls and Mt Somers hiking trails. It's only 10 minutes from the start of the Mt Hutt Ski area access road and 20 minutes to the town of Methven. A wide list of activities to do in the area is available here, we will talk you through all the local options. All of this is only 1 hour from Christchurch International Airport.
