The location of the accommodation was excellent and very close to the centre of funchal so everything was in walking distance including shops, restaurants, attractions and transportation. The accommodation was very quiet and in a quaint street. it was clean and comfortable.

+ The location of the studios is ideal. It's walking distance from the main attractions in Funchal, but also 5 mins away from La Vie mall which has an excellent grocery store, and even closer to restaurants on Rua da Carreira. + Studio has a full kitchen, so it is possible to make meals in the studio. It is also spacious with a big closet. The room we got on the ground floor had a nice balcony. + The hospitality of the hosts (esp Luisa) is outstanding. We had an issue w the keys and bathroom tap on the first day. They generously offered an alternate room. They also fixed the issues ASAP. It was easy to communicate w the hosts on WhatsApp. + Breakfast is DELICIOUS. Baked goods, eggs, oats, jams, coffee, juices. They also can prepare an early breakfast if you request it. + The nightly price is GREAT value. They also offer parking at an additional price, which is across the road from the studio.

ASPA - Apartmentos São Paulo Alegria started 34 years ago, by the hand of the current owner, José Mendonça, with the mission of offering an alternative accommodation in which guests could truly feel at home. The ASPA - Alegria Studios is the latest property associated (2014), being the sister property - ASPA- São Paulo Studios, 20 meters away. At ASPA the atmosphere is relaxed, the communication informal and the team warm and available. The company has grown and includes a countryside property, Madeira Sunset Cottage, that provides accommodation for our guests wishing to tour the island.

Property information

ASPA - Alegria Studios is located in a beautiful building from the early 20th century, of traditional Madeiran architecture. High ceilings and the original wood board floors grant character and create a welcoming atmosphere to the place. The studios were designed to cater for the needs of autonomous travellers seeking comfort, centrality and convenience. Our studios provide high speed WiFi, kitchenettes equipped for home-cooking and convenience services within walking distance (supermarket, restaurants, bus stations, aerobus and the harbour). Our guests can also practice yoga and enjoy vegetarian lunches and dinners in the garden. At 40 meters from this property, guests can benefit from the facilities of a sister's property ASPA - São Paulo Studios, where the reception is located. In this building guests also have access to the breakfast room, meeting room, panoramic terrace and wine cellar. Express check-in is available whenever the time of arrival is notified.

Neighbourhood information

Our studios are located in the well known historical area of the city of Funchal, in the corner of Rua da Carreira, and surrounded by numerous points of interest, restaurants and shopping areas. The marina, old town, farmer's market and the cable car are all within walking distance. In the mediations of the building you will find the English Church as well as some of the most beautiful museums in Madeira, such as Quinta das Cruzes.
