The hotel itself is spectacular but the staff are what make this place really special. Nicole on reception was so incredibly helpful and the restaurant staff were superb. Excellent food and facilities and will be dreaming of that view for a while. Like luxury hotels used to be in ‘the good old days’.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The apartment was beautiful, calm and clean. For the first time, we watched the ocean through a banana grove. Just a short distance from the accommodation, there is a stunning loop trail along the Levada do Moinho and Levada Nova. This house is a perfect base to explore Madeira!

Spacious apartment with an amazing view! In reality it’s even more beautiful than in the picture. Fully equipped kitchen and a very convenient, dedicated, parking lot. Frank (host) was very helpful and accommodating. The Ponta do Sol is probably one of the best areas to stay in Madeira!

We had an amazing stay at Casa Jolie. The house is spacious, spotless, and offers a breathtaking view of the ocean from the terrace and two balconies. It’s so comfortable that it was honestly hard to leave and explore the island. The beds were very comfortable, and the bathrooms were modern and well equipped. We also appreciated having a washing machine, dryer, and even a steam iron — all of which made our stay extra convenient. Self check-in and check-out were smooth and easy, making the arrival and departure stress-free. Gaspar was a wonderful host — welcoming and thoughtful. He greeted us with delicious local treats, including honey cake and fresh potato bread. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by banana plantations, which gives it a peaceful and authentic Madeiran feel. Parking is available directly at the property, and the location is ideal as a base to explore the island — whether you’re heading to the mountains, the coast, or nearby trails. One of the most beautiful and less crowded levada walks — Levada do Moinho and Levada Nova — starts just a 4-minute walk from the house. We’d definitely love to return and highly recommend Casa Jolie to anyone visiting Madeira.

The village was delightful, we stayed a short car ride away.

The village was delightful, we stayed a short car ride away. It was accessed through a tunnel which was too long to walk through comfortably. We can recommend ‘The Old Pharmacy’ for lovely meals, particularly brunch.

It's got the best weather on the island.

It's got the best weather on the island. It's far enough away from the hustle & bustle /crowds & traffic of Funchal, but close enough to everything to access the sights. It was more peaceful here and homey. We really loved our hotel (Zino's Palace).

Its a lovely small coastal town, but parking is a massive problem, with many people parking on the pedestrian path, and yellow lines. If I was visiting for the day, I would have gone elsewhere, but as a guest staying for 3 days, we spent many hours trying to park legally. Beware you can be clamped despite no road markings or signs, or restricted access.

A quiet little town, with nice streets and observation decks. There are several restaurants and only one shopping center in the center. It's a very nice sunset and it's always nice and warm here.

We enjoyed our stay in Gorete’s property in Ponta do Sol. Gorete and her daughter were very kind hosts and greeted us on arrival with a big bowl of regional fruits eggs and freshly baked cakes. Gorete even helped us with contacts of a car rental company which we found very helpful. The property had all the amenities we needed including a well equipped kitchen. The property is very clean and well maintained. We found the location ideal as a base to tour Madeira.

A real find. Absolutely beautiful terrace. Very Clean. Everything perfect. Loved Ponta do Sol. Great views. Wake up to sunshine & blue skies (well most days) & coffee on the terrace. We walked down into the town each night & back up after dinner (not for the faint hearted but good exercise) Taxis are available evidently 🤣. Host Veronica superb & very helpful. Did not see anywhere else we would rather have been and we got around a bit!

Local neighbourhood with 10 min drive to Ponta do Sol. Super kind neighbours and gifts of fruits (bananas/avocados) during the week. Great with 2 toilets. We didn’t meet the host, but she seems very nice, and the check-in and -out went well.
