Enotel, if you have not heard of them, is a well-established chain of hotels and resorts in Madeira. Enotel Sunset Bay is located right on the seafront at Ponta do Sol with restaurants and bars all within walking distance. The hotel consists of several 'buildings' or rather facades, so I was surprised when I walked in to see a huge lobby. There is also a heated indoor pool next to the reception. For an overnight stay on the 10. January, I was given a room with a great balcony overlooking the sea. The room has 2 huge beds, the decor, bathroom, cleanliness, and size all exceeded my expectations. The breakfast is excellent, and we are spoilt for choice. I especially recommend the receptionists who were very friendly and helpful with tips. After a 30km walk from Funchal - it made such a difference to have such friendly personnel and a nice hotel room!

I stayed here for a couple of days and had a great time. The house was very calm and relaxing, and after hiking it was nice to come back in the afternoon. I slept very well and the bed was super comfortable. One thing I really appreciated was having a private parking spot right at the house. I’ve had bad experiences in Madeira having to leave the car on the street, so it was a big relief to park easily and sleep without worrying about it. I spent a lot of time in the living room and on the terrace. The views were great and watching the sunsets in the evening became part of the routine. Even on a rainy day I could still sit outside in the covered area, and when the weather was good, sitting near the barrel was perfect. The location was ideal for me. Levada Nova and Levada do Moinho were just a few minutes away, which made early hikes easy, and everything else was simple to reach. The house has a lot of character and felt quite unique. I also asked the host for some advice and she was quick to respond and very helpful, sharing ideas for places to visit and some nice local places to eat. I come to Madeira often and for the quality and location the value was really good. Next time I’d definitely stay longer.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The apartment is simply amazing and very, very cozy — it has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable life. The highlight is, of course, the stunning terrace with a breathtaking view of the ocean. The host was incredibly welcoming and warm-hearted. It’s a perfect place for a reasonable price. The village was delightful, we stayed a short car ride away.

The village was delightful, we stayed a short car ride away. It was accessed through a tunnel which was too long to walk through comfortably. We can recommend ‘The Old Pharmacy’ for lovely meals, particularly brunch.

It's got the best weather on the island.

It's got the best weather on the island. It's far enough away from the hustle & bustle /crowds & traffic of Funchal, but close enough to everything to access the sights. It was more peaceful here and homey. We really loved our hotel (Zino's Palace).

Its a lovely small coastal town, but parking is a massive problem, with many people parking on the pedestrian path, and yellow lines. If I was visiting for the day, I would have gone elsewhere, but as a guest staying for 3 days, we spent many hours trying to park legally. Beware you can be clamped despite no road markings or signs, or restricted access.

Mar Lindo is a beautiful vacation home. Our family had such a great time both in the town of Ponta do Sol and especially the house. Staying over for Christmas was a good decision. The property is walking distance to the town below. The town had more than enough of what we needed for groceries and shops. Our hosts were wonderful! Not only did they provide clear instructions and recommendations for the town. They also ensure their property is fully-equipped, well maintained, clean, and a relaxing experience.
