The Fork and Shovel Farm cottages are located in a rural setting among an apple orchard, market gardening, forest and fields with grazing sheep. We are a working farm, producing gelato and operating a small cafe and farm shop during the warmer months. The cottages are both original to the farm one being an old grain storage house and the other the old hen house. We have lovingly renovated them into guest accommodation in a style which is relaxed and eclectic giving its guests a hint of a time gone by. The cottages both have comfortable outdoor areas for guests to use during fine weather and cosy living spaces including wood burners for when there is a bit of a chill in the air. Our home is located here so we are always available to give our visitors tips or recommendations for things to do whilst staying with us.

Our cottages give a unique experience to our guests who stay with us, offering a quiet retreat in a rural setting yet being only a moments drive from the unique offerings of the coastal villages and spectacular Bohuslän archipelago. There is nothing more satisfying as a host than seeing guests relax and take it slowly from their usual fast pace lives.

Tjörn has a long history of fishing and farming which can be seen whilst exploring the island, its natural beauty is endless with numerous swimming spots, hiking and biking trails. There are wonderful restaurants and cafes like Salt and Sill in Klädesholmen and beautiful little fishing villages to wander around and imagine what life was like back in the old days. Tjörn is part of an archipelago which is famous for attracting sailors during the summer months, the guest harbours are full with boats from all over Europe coming to experience the unique beauty of what is almost like an untouched part of the world. For art lovers there is the famous water colour museum, Nordiska Akvarellmuseet which is located in Skärhamn and the open air sculpture park Pilane where you can wander around Stone Age burial mounds with sheep at your feet whilst admiring modern sculpture. Tjörn is close enough to Gothenburg for day trips as is Carlstens fortress at Marstrand and the small islands of Dyrön and Härön.
