In April 2024, I had an overnight stay and determined the hotel has great potential. The hotel was easy to locate and in a quiet area. The staff was nice. The hotel had adequate parking. The room was clean. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The hotel had a pool area and decent continental breakfast options. Overall the room was good.
Overall the room was good. The Customer Service could have been better. They weren’t that friendly. The bed’s were squeaky, but tolerable. The balcony could be bigger. You can only sit one way comfortably. I didn’t like the fact that as soon as I walk in someone approaches me about going to a meeting about signing up for a club after traveling. I didn’t like how the door’s slammed and powered loud in the hallway. Hopefully, if I have to use them again some of these can be resolved.

Great place for relaxing at the beach, eating at amazing restaurants, and recreationial activities. This was our 2nd time vacationing in HHI.
We enjoyed a sunset dinner cruise, walking the Sea Pines Preserve and the Audobon Newhall Preserve, and visiting the Coastal Discovery Museum. Also loved the Frozen Moo with 92 flavors of ice cream. Nectar Restaurant has the best fried chicken and fried green tomatoes. Loved One Hot Mama's BBQ dinner, too. The food is incredible with options for everyone.
Shopping at Coligny Plaza was fun for a few hours, but if you've seen one t-shirt shop, you've seen them all. We preferred more authentic souvenirs from local merchants like Binya that sold locally made soaps, sweetgrass baskets and artwork of the Gullah people. Otherwise, shopping was not impressive to me because so many shops sold chintzy tourist trinkets made in China.
HHI is easy to find your way around and is conveniently located 1 hr from Savannah and 2 hrs from Charleston for other day excursions. Many just ride bikes everywhere because there are so many pathways around the island. HHI is also one of the most dog-friendly places we've visited and still has the cleanest beaches. Myrtle Beach really doesn't compare, in my opinion. There's something for everyone to enjoy at HHI.

Lots to do around Hilton Head.
Lots to do around Hilton Head. Visiting on vacation while waiting for my son to graduate from MCRD Parris Island.. Within decent distance from Parris Island. Not too far to drive early AM for the things you need to be present for if you're a parent. Tanger Outlet 1 & 2 are close-by... plenty of shopping and stores.
The beach is not as great as others. Tar balls were everywhere, along with PLENTY of jellyfish.. and I didn't see any in the water.. They were dotted along the beach, every few feet.

Hotel rates in late March were high.
Hotel rates in late March were high. Can't drive to the south tip of the island without a pass, don't let this catch you off-guard when you're planning your itinerary. The island has lots of mixed-use trails, ideal for bicycling. Booked a short kayaking tour of the inlet, saw a great sunset, enjoyed walking the grounds of the coastal discovery museum. The island's covenants with regards to maintaining native trees and reducing signage can be a blessing and a curse, especially when you're trying to spot your destination from the road. Beach was underwhelming, beached jellyfish were everywhere that time of year. Close proximity to Savannah, Georgia, but heavy traffic can stretch the 45 minute travel estimate to an hour and a half.

First time at Hilton Head, the folks were friendly and the hotel location was in good location, short walk to beach and dining.
I found the area too crowded for my taste and more expensive than I liked.

I know it's a golfing and tennis destination but there was pretty much NOTHING else to do. The beach was not inviting with hard packed cold sand and bicyclists driving all over. There is no "main street" just lots of shopping "crescents" that looked all alike and everything was ridiculously overpriced. The scenery wasn't terribly interesting, unfortunately. There were several hard pitches to sit for time share presentations. We were certainly not interested as Hilton Head is not my thing at all. To add to our displeasure we booked a dolphin cruise and saw ONE dolphin.

Fantastic location on the beach and close to all the golf you want. Rooms were comfortable, though a bit dated looking. Hotel facilities were clean throughout the entire property. The pool area was very nice and conveniently located by the beach access - which had ample showering facilities between the hotel and the beach. Conveniently located poolside bar/dining option.
Location was great and right on the beach. We enjoyed the tiki hut and bands that played. Room was nice and clean. We ate one meal at the hotel restaurant and it was good. We at several snacks at the tiki hut from the restaurant and they were good. I would definitely book here again.
We stayed the previous year and so enjoyed it we booked again. The staff is always welcoming, friendly and helpful.
The bar tenders were engaging and delightful. The room was immaculate, warm, comfortable and quiet. This places out does every other place on Hilton Head Island.
accomadations very nice well equiped kitchen. good shower comfortable beds. one thing i have seen before in a hotel
heat and air unit was a air deflector to send air to ceiling instead of directly on the bed this was very nice and is something
all hotels should do.
The hotel was very nice and clean. Our apartment was so spacious and well equipped. I like the most the location, everything accessible on foot (beach, restaurants, supermarket, shops)
Location was great! Resort is beautiful and very family/pet friendly. The beach is very clean and well furnished with umbrellas and chairs. Sonesta was everything we hoped it would be.
Staff was very friendly, the hotel felt very clean, food was excellent and the location is everything! Perfect for walking on the beach, watching the sunrise. Will definitely be back!
Location was excellent, the property was great, food was good. Loved the swimming pools and the outside environment with the beach access so close to the hotel.
There is apparently a scent that is unique to Courtyard (each Marriott hotel level is different) and every time I entered the main lobby, it smelled amazing!
