Was able to leave my car a few hours prior to check-in which was a real help, good location, not far of a walk to get to Fisherman's Wharf, plenty in the area too, Mel's Diner across the street, amazing food (and a juke box you can play Frank Sinatra on). It is on a busy road, so traffic noise if staying roadside is noticeable, but not to the point of unable to sleep, big and comfy rooms, welcoming reception and great service.

Home to one of America’s icons – the Golden Gate Bridge – San Francisco is a liberal city where life is very much for the living.
Surrounded on 3 sides by water, it is spread over steep hills that make for great photo opportunities. None better than the zig-zag Lombard Street seen in many a film. Other movie stars are the streetcars plying the hill climbs – a little touristy, but still worth trying.
In the middle of the bay is Alcatraz island, famed for the notorious criminals once imprisoned there. Even if you don’t fancy going inside, the views towards the bridge and city are unparalleled.
Nowhere in San Francisco is life more laidback than on the Pacific beaches. Hire a bike and head out there via the huge Golden Gate Park, before returning to sample some fresh seafood at Fisherman’s Wharf. The clam chowder served in (yes, actually in!) bread is a delight. Chinatown also has a great selection of good value restaurants.
As you fly into San Francisco Airport, look out for the exclusive homes lining the Bay Area. Whether you want to stay in apartments along those lines, luxury San Francisco hotels or cheap hostels, Booking.com has something to suit. Be careful though – you might just leave your heart here.

The city we knew years ago was always beautiful and pristine!!! Over the years it started to loose its beauty in some areas due to the homeless population! But this last stay showed the city has worked hard to clean up key areas! We were pleasantly surprised!

I was expecting things to be unsafe and run down based on research we had done before leaving. We loved it, and did not have a bad experience at all. We we lucky and had a week of beautiful weather. We did a lot of walking and only felt a little unsure of the area once. The people were friendly and city itself was beautiful.

San Francisco area we visited - Geary to wharf/water - looks fresh and clean, was expecting the opposite based on the bad press it has been getting recently. Lots of places to see, walk, eat. We liked Fog Harbor Fish House for its seafood selection at reasonable prices. The Mill bakery was our breakfast favorite. Saturday farmers market at ferry terminal has an abundance of options for produce, fruit and, breakfast, pastries, coffee, etc. Land’s End and Presidio offer long walks with ocean and city views.

Needs a MAJOR CLEANUP.
Needs a MAJOR CLEANUP. Trash , homeless and drugs everywhere. We met 1 public transit worker who was awesome on our last cable car ride. Wish I could remember his name - he deserves a raise. Told us about the history of the cable cars and much about the city. Most of the other workers we encountered were kinda rude - like you were bothering them and should know everything already, WE ARE TOURIST FROM ANOTHER STATE AND REGION

We did one day in San Francisco.
We did one day in San Francisco. A trip to Muir woods was well worth it. The virgin Redwood forest was beautiful and nourishing for the soul. A pic in front of the Golden Gate Bridge was ticked off our “must do” list. A visit to the historical island of Alcatraz, which needed to be pre-booked, was interesting. A bonus was the bird sanctuary on Alcatraz Island. We tasted the hot dogs outside the boarding gates which were a hit.

Every system functions at the highest level for an American city. The citizens are more respectful and conscientious than anywhere I've been. So much to do and see and perfect weather despite a heat wave in nearby areas.
The room was roomy enough, had a comfortable bed, nice shower amenities and the location of the hotel is great! Close to Union Square, lots of good restaurants (Matador - Mexican, Pinecrest - 24hr diner) and bars (John Foley's, The Irish Bank, Zombie Village). Loved the Beat Generation vibe of the hotel and the cool decorations and quotes around the room, hallways and lobby area. PLUS the attached BlueStone Coffee shop has a great cold brew!
We had a short 3-day stay in San Francisco and enjoyed our time at the Handlery Union Square Hotel. The bed was comfortable. There was a small fridge were we could store some items.
Clean room and refreshed every day. We had some benefits at a nearby diner as thanks for being a Handlery guest.
The Hotel is on the margins of Union Square, which in itself is safe. A bit of caution needed when going a few streets beyond.
The Chancellor is a beautiful hotel within easy walking distance of Moscone Center. I love the Union Square neighborhood with all its restaurants and shopping. My room was perfect for one person, comfortable beds, clean bathroom, ample closet space. Basically everything you could want in a San Francisco hotel. Also really enjoyed the free popcorn and cookies available in the lobby.
The hotel room was modern and comfortable. There was also a nice view from my room. The hotel is in an accessible location near Union square, and it felt safe in the area. There is also a cable car stop right outside the hotel.
