We are a modern bed and breakfast located in the Historic Southwest Neighborhood of Roanoke, VA located just minutes from the downtown Market Center, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Mill Mountain Star. We are proud to be VIRGINIA GREEN, an Eco-friendly urban inn dedicated to leaving the smallest footprint within our control and to leaving things better than we found them. We purchase organic food whenever possible, and our bath products are all natural, sulfate & paraben free. Our bed sheets are bamboo and our bath towels are eco-friendly. The gutter system is designed to feed our gardens and landscaping directly. Our off-street parking lot is crushed stone and our patio is recycled fireplace bricks. It is gratifying to support Sustainable Tourism.
After searching for a bed and breakfast for five years, and looking at 20+ properties, we found this wonderful opportunity while visiting Roanoke in December, 2016. We came here to shop at Black Dog Salvage and fell in love with Roanoke. We relocated here from Orlando in April, 2017, and closed on the purchase a few months later. Our first year was an adventure. Although this was an operating bed and breakfast since 2008, it had been closed for four months, so there was much to do. While unpacking the moving truck, we booked our first guests that week-end, and were fortunate to have guests book most every week-end the rest of the year. In between learning how to operate the business, maintaining the house and grounds, and meeting new friends and neighbors, we had the opportunity to try out the wide variety of restaurants, breweries, wineries, shops, and visitor attractions. We have posted lots of information on the board at the entrance, but feel free to ask us about our favorites. Escape to the Blue Ridge Mountains! Roanoke is full of surprises. Music, museums, festivals, locally owned shops, restaurants and our Farmers Market. Hike, bike, or visit craft breweries and wineries. We're an easy 1 mile walk from downtown, and just minutes from the Greenway.
