Our renovated 1882 cape was much different when we bought it in 2008! It was far from the updated cozy version you are going to experience today. With its quartz counter tops, two ovens, red oak floors, radiant heating in the downstairs bathroom, new stair case and 13 more windows, actual bedrooms (there are 2), an open loft/flex space, and open concept first floor. Our home is now cozy, bright and welcoming. Outside you will find 6 acres of a babbling brook, wetlands, forest, fenced yard, play structure, and a screened gazebo from which you can observe a plethora of wildlife.
Our renovated 1882 cape was our family home until July 2020, when we moved 6 miles away to live with my mother in-law. Her house is much better fit for our family of 6! We couldn’t stand the thought of selling our first home, so now we offer it to use as a home a way from home, if only for a few nights. We hope you and your family are comfortable and enjoy your stay!
There are lots of fun things to do just a short drive away from our home, like Mac’s Maple; a family run farm that produces milk, eggs, meat, baked goods, maple syrup, and maple creamees! Riverview Farm where you will find fruits, like apples, blueberries, and raspberries, and pumpkins, gourds, fresh and dried flowers, and a corn maze. Edgewater farm where you will find Vegetables galore, homemade prepared foods, and beautiful flowers. Plenty of opportunities to ski (alpine and XC), ice skate, mountain bike…. 20 minutes to Dartmouth College and Hanover 30 minutes to VINS nature center and Simon Pearce 20 minutes to harpoon brewery, silo distillery, and Blake Hill Preserves 30 minutes to King Arthur Baking And only 6 miles from big box stores. You’ll find everything you need and more not far from our little house in the woods.
