Relax. Recharge. Repeat. That's what we offer discerning travelers who appreciate the charm of historic architecture, art, gourmet food, and one fantastic canine greeter. Built in 1900, this lovingly maintained home is decorated with vintage pieces, and offers a unique formal breakfast experience to especially delight fellow foodies. Along with an affinity for the past, we offer a strong WiFi signal, desks for business travelers, and comfy beds and seating areas. Use our library to read or play games or watch a movie on a recessed movie screen. The lovely surrounding garden area is a work in progress and the wraparound porch is a welcome retreat after a long day of exploring. Come and stay a while at this award winner from LUXlife Magazine three years in a row (2021, 2022, 2023). Get refreshed and simply enjoy life in the Maine Highlands.
Expect a personal welcome from your host(s) and sometimes a quick "security" sniff from Snickers. (Guests love him!). Mike is ex-army and works in the factory of the local mill. Wendy's passions are gourmet food, art, architecture, graphic design and fiction writing. We love conversing with guests and hear the excitement in their voices as they talk about moose sightings! We are here, at your service. We'll do our best to make your stay here at the Guilford Bed and Breakfast the highlight of your trip.
Fellow foodies rave about the Quarry in Monson (20 min away) where chef-owner Marilou “Lulu” Ranta was just awarded the James Beard award. Book a table in advance for a true, Culinary Experience. Chew62, just 15 minutes away in Dover-Foxcroft offers a chef's quality dinner for food-lovers. For something within walking distance, there's pub grub at the patriotic Red Maple. This is an old mill town and two local mills still exist. One still blows a whistle each weekday to call the locals to their workplace. You can feel the history here, for sure. Forty-five minutes away, book a Katahdin cruise for a relaxing site-seeing excursion. Want to time travel back to the 50's? Reny's Department Store in Dexter will delight your fancies. Walking and hiking paths abound and not just in Peaks-Kenny State Park. This is a haven for kayaking and canoeing. What's your outside pleasure? You can probably find it here.
