All of them live in the central mountain range in St. Vincent. They flock to ridges surrounding a stunning 10 acre farm that is a sanctuary for this rare and beautiful bird and home to Wild Lotus Glamping. The remote rainforest location is virtually untouched. It's as if Wild Lotus Glamping has teleported 10 luxury Lotus Belle glamping tents, replete with comfy double beds, egyptian cotton sheets, and state of the art coffee percolators, and dropped them amongst ancient breadfruit trees, high up in the mountains. Each tent is perfectly positioned on the banks of the Grand Sable river, with a clear view of the Amazona’s Guildingii’s canopy nesting sites, and the ocean on the eastern horizon. Nature based wellness therapies including yoga, riverside massages and forest bathing enhance the experience. Evenings are for conversations, campfires and stargazing over a sizzling BBQ. Every ingredient is sourced from the farm; root vegetables pulled from the earth and fish caught from the river are seasoned for you to enjoy.

Vennetta & Paul have pioneered glamping in the Caribbean since 2017. They unearth undiscovered yet stunning locations like this traditional organic farm set high up in the rainforest. Strict organic farming methods and the banning of pesticides on the site means that the local bird populations flock to the fruit and flowers that adorn the tropical landscape. The farmers have purposefully planted Golden apple trees, mangos and passion fruit vines around the farm. These delicious fruits are picked straight from the trees for breakfast, by both birds and birders alike. However, Birders get the added bonus of watching their guide skilfully wield his machete to slice off the top of a coconut. There’s nothing like drinking pure, sweet coconut water, fresh from the nut.

This glamping site is in the rainforest, and the only neighbours are the birds in the skies. Getting there is an adrenaline rush in itself. You turn off the winding Windward highway just before the village milestone for Georgetown. All at once you are in another space and time. Soaring mountain ridges scrape the sky and envelop you in verdancy that stretches as far as the eye can see. A rough and rocky road, only fit for high axle 4x4’s, takes you on an adventure up the mountain and down the valleys. You cross the Grand Sable river winding its way down to the ocean not once, but eight times. The only traffic jam you'll meet is between you and a nonchalant herd of cows. They will often stand in the middle of the river crossing and study you intently, before slowly ambling out of your way. Other than that, in making your way up to this delightful retreat it's just you, the birds and the clouds.
