It started with a warm welcome from exceptional hosts. The whole farm feels sprinkled with fairy dust. Everything about this farm is magical, even the glorious food made by Christine! Homemade ice cream, perfectly cooked steak and the best French toast ever. The real stars of course being all the animals, including a cat and two dogs. The highlight however has to be the most incredible cart ride, pulled by a glorious beast named Vulcan (I can safely say I might have fallen a bit in love with him). It was exhilarating and a must if you visit.

Situated at the foot of Robinson Pass, Outeniqua Moon Percheron Stud Farm offers comfortable Colonial-style accommodation in Ruiterbos.Free WiFi is available in the main house. Each suite at Outeniqua Moon features a fully-equipped kitchen, and is equipped with a flat-screen TV with satellite channels. Dinner is available on request, at an additional surcharge. An array of activities is offered on the farm and in the area, such as horse riding, cycling and hiking. The farm is a children’s paradise, and kids will delight in the playground, trampoline and swimming pool. Guests can also meet the giant Percheron horses on the farm, including Shadowfax, South Africa's biggest horse. Outeniqua Moon is lovingly owned by Christine and Peter Watt, who have made it their passion to protect and preserve the rare Percheron draft horses that we breed on the farm. Since the advent of the motor car and tractor, draft horses have become a rarity in our modern world. In fact the Percheron's are now rarer than Rhino's.

This magical 100-hectare mountain farm is guaranteed to take away all those inner city blues and delight the whole family, young and old. Step out of your door and into a beautiful world of mountains, birds and horses, with hiking and mountain bike trails on the farm, and in the area. The relationship between humans and horses has sustained the world throughout the centuries. Rediscover the magical connection with these rare giants at Outeniqua Moon Percheron Stud and Guest Farm.

Outeniqua Moon is situated in the picturesque area known as Ruitersbos on the R328 between Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn, making us a perfect central location from which to explore the area. There is however, plenty to do on the farm if you are a nature lover. Our Carriage Rides are great for all ages and take you on a scenic journey, through the fynbos. The ride lasts about 45 minutes, and stops at a magnificent view point over-looking the Leeukloof valley. We also offer educational tours, in which we share our knowledge of the magnificent Percheron's, and talk about the plight that heavy draft horses are facing now. Come see Shadowfax, the biggest Percheron bred in South Africa. We serve tea and home-made cake on the farm, and we have a play park, trampoline and bunnies to occupy the kids. Activities in the area: Game Drives, Horseback Safari's, Guided Bush Trails, Hiking Trails, Caving, Ostrich riding, Shark cage diving, Museums, Shopping, Swimming, Surfing.
