I cannot say enough good things about Mbazo!
The team are exceptional and they go above and beyond to ensure that every guest is taken care of. The rooms are out of this world and the food is first class. The safari guide was excellent and the highlight had to be the elephants coming to drink from the pool right outside the hotel.

Everything from the welcome to the end! All the people are so happy and excited! It was a wonderful stay!
The chefkok was amazing 🤩
The guide was so helpful and informative about the animals and we saw the BIG 5!! He did al the best to see with us as most as possible.
The host was kind and will do anything to make it comfortable for us. My wife was pregnant and they did everything to make it comfortable for us!!

The property is stunning, rooms are huge and in great condition and all have access to a pool.
The main house looks out onto the watering hole and so we often had incredible viewings of animals at breakfast and afternoon tea. The staff were really what made our stay; our ranger Dolfie was so knowledgeable and really went out of his way to make our game drives informing and entertaining. The reception team were friendly and had a great sense of humour. All of the team in the restaurant/bar are truly top-notch and went above and beyond - specifically for our grandparents and my husband’s 30th birthday.
The property is brilliantly located in the private Black Rhino Game Reserve which you explore during evening game drives, and on the Pilanesberg National Park which you explore on the morning game drives.
I cannot wait to come back and would recommend everyone reading this to book!

Ivory Tree honestly exceeded our expectations!
All food was great, the rooms were great, and we saw great wildlife, including all of the big 5.
They really take care of you from the moment you drive in.

The Pilansberg is great for Fauna & Flora. We always have good animal & bird sightings.
The condition of many of the roads is appalling and not comfortable in a normal sedan vehicle.
The Camping facilities at Bakgatla are adequate with good shade but not much grass.
However, the Chalet we used was terrible. R10k for three nights - the Aircon didn't work at all(in 37deg heat),the Stove didn't work. The Tap on the sink was literally falling off.The Fridge wasn't very efficient.
No Shower and the bath was designed for a midget & it was dirty because the surface was badly stained.
One toilet for five people - not good enough for R3k a night.

The staff and service were amazing.
The staff and service were amazing. Always helpful and polite. The manager Karel was also very helpful and went out of his way to please us. He took us on some amazing game drives.
The hotel is old and tired and the rooms are dirty. The mats by the bed were filthy and torn as well as the mat in the bathroom which also needed a clean.
The food was very average and we were also served left overs on one of the days we were there. Unless there is an upgrade to the premises I cannot see us going back anytime soon

Once one we were in the sanctuary of the Black Rhino Lodge, all was fantastic. Getting there and back by road was unpleasant. The surrounding areas are poverty stricken and the roads in a poor state.
Unforunately, there is no longer an airport in the area.

Although the roads aren't in the best shape, it helps one to drive slowly, to enjoy the bush and all it has to offer. The "Friends of Pilansberg" try very hard to maintain the roads. The "Bush" takes care of the rest!!
The staff is incredible! So attentive, kind and sweet. Always willing to help and assist with anything.
The food was exceptional and so were the facilities.
Perfectly cleaned rooms, beautiful location.
But the biggest highlight for us was our ranger for the game drives, Oratile Junior.
The sweetest and kindest guy! He showed us the pilanesberg national park with so much knowledge, passion and excitement for the animals and the habitat that we couldn’t not fall in love with Shepherds Tree Game Reserve!
The design, location and privacy of these villas is five star. With a heated pool on the most amazing patio overlooking the Pilansberg we were able to relax in complete privacy, even seeing a hippo in the small dam in front of the unit. We also loved that we could walk within the resort (something not really safe to do in other bush villas) and make use of the resorts lively amenities … the restaurant, tennis courts, gym, boma, game drives ect. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.
The staff was largely superb, although not everyone speaks fluent English.
Breakfast is a high point: each day is different, and dietary restrictions are requested and followed (e.g. one can ask for no beef, no pork, etc.)
Some rooms are in separate apartments near the swimming pool.
Bathrooms are large w/ large showers.
Near Pilansberg Park and Sun City.
Extra secure entrance to room w/ locking gate as well as door.
Refrigerator and coffee materials in room. Air conditioning.
Location is great- directly located at the edge from Pilanesberg National Park.
They had a waterhole close to the pool and we were lucky enough to see 2 rhinos on our first day.
Our safari guide Lou was very friendly and helpful. The game drives (safari) are included in the price (one in the morning the other one in the afternoon).
Roooms were spacious and had a huge bed, with nice view. Housekeeping did a great job keeping everything clean.
The experience at the hotel was amazing. They asked us in advance what we would like to eat and if we had any dietary restrictions! The hotel's breakfast is incredible with many options. I would like to mention our safari experience at the Game Lodge; we had two guides, Sibu and Helen, both very knowledgeable and skilled. They showed special attention to my pregnant wife.
Absolutely beautiful, immaculate, the rooms are 5 star, but what sets this lodge apart is the service. So ready to assist in any way and the big smiles and kind hearts of all from front desk to restaurant to cleaning. Tanya our driver was so smart well informed fun and made my whole safari experience something I will never forget. Thank you !! From Kentucky USA.

The hotel room is quite and clean sitting in the private bushland. Staff there made our stay very welcoming, the Safari guide Freedom is excellent in knowledge and skills sharing with us, and he is a caring person, striving to make our trip well organised in every thing. House keeping team done a good job too.
This is my second visit here in just under a year and I live in Australia so you know this place is very special. The accommodation is perfect, the staff are amazing and the food is divine. The game in the national park is incredible and the hotels highly experienced rangers help you really appreciate it.
Staff was outstanding. Even got lucky and had a private safari morning ride. Room was insane and luxurious! This place was epic. Here is a video. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CpBSuHko1jT/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
This was the best hotel, where we have been so far! Very good Food, very good Service, very nice Game drives… We will come back as soon as we can. It is worth the money.
The hotel is amazing, the Crew is very gently and the position is a dream! I’ll come back soon! I’ll fly from Italy again just to be in this amazing place!
