This cottage is in a great location and has a fantastic view. The sitting and dining area faces to the view so you get to make the most of it. The cottage is a little apart from the other accommodation so giving more privacy. There is a nice local walk you can do that allows you to appreciate the scenery.

Our third time Basalt hotel, and still it is heaven on earth! The rooms are spacious, with great beds and a great shower and a huge bathroom! Of course we emerged ourselves the hot tub, with the amazing view on the valley. The hosts are so friendly, and nice to meet one of the owners again ☺️ We will certainly return! Huge recommendation! Takk fyrir! ❤️

Nice apartment with functioning kitchen and views of the sea. There was a bedroom with a double bed, its own door within the apartment. 2 other single beds were in the sitting/dining area. Bathroom is in common area. The sloping roof/ceiling needs to be careful about. The hot water for shower was very hot despite turning the temperature down. Front desk staff accepted the feedback graciously. Hotel is a distance from town.

The accommodation has a great location. What I appreciate the most is the price and the quality overall. We had a small cottage for one night and it was clean and cozy. There are bathtubs, great for evening relaxation.

It was my ninth stay at Fossatún and it was a great as always! The camping-pods are very cozy and the hot tubs are perfect for relaxing in the evening. The new kitchen building is a great addition. Don’t miss trying the restaurant, it‘s delicious!

We loved our stay. The pod was cozy. The kitchen had an electric hob, kettle, fridge toaster and an air fryer. The hot tub was great to relax after a long day on the road. One night we could see a tiny bit of northern lights behind the mountain. The troll waterfalls were a lot nice than I expected. I would recommend this accommodation to friends.

The fabulous world of Trolls - the Troll Garden is available, perfect for children and adults. Very nice place, warm and clean rooms. Comfortable beds. Tasty breakfasts, large selection and great service. There is an on-site restaurant serving not only dishes, but also a collection of vinyls (you can turn on your favorite album and drink a delicious beer). The advantage is the jacuzzi - perfect for relaxing and the location away from the lights - perfect for watching the Northern Lights. Near road 1, near Reykjavik I highly recommend it !!

Perfect location, right next to the troll waterfall. Hot tubs were great way to relax in the evening. And we really enjoyed the troll garden, really nice to discover it with kids and read the stories. And of course our accomodation, very unique. Also the breakfast was very nice and in the restaurant/reception area we fest very comfortable and welcomed.

We came in late around 9pm and were lucky that we saw the northern lights on our night there! It provides three hot tubs which are open until 11pm, all with different temperatures and water. Kitchen and toilet are public for everyone to use. We did not see private shower cabins, though, which was a bit strange if you are not used to showering at an open public space. It is a beautiful place and I definitely can recommend staying there two nights, explore the troll garden and go on a hike.

A friend recommended this place and I understand why. The wooden hut itself was so cozy. You can park right next to it, there are seats outside to relax, and its so warm inside. We rented the linen which was clean. The kitchen is excellent, with everything you need. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. We did not dine at the restaurant on site, but it looked great and had an amazing view of the waterfall and mountains. We checked in late, so the staff sent easy instructions. We really loved our stay here!

You enter a wonderful world of tales and legends. The most stunning view over a waterfall, from our room window. We stayed in one of the little yellow houses, there is also mini trailers and RV camping sites, they hVe a hot tub, a mini golf and a huge space behind the hotel to go for a walk, there is a lake… The restaurant is not bad too. We loved this place.
